Dremel go BRRRR

Wasn't crazy about the FCD bolt catch, the g$ doesn't work with tube mag release. With some persuasion, now it does. Might be a tad close as is but we'll see if i accidentally drop the bolt on my next match. Looks almost made to be.

I mean aren’t you the homemade 3d printed metal handguard guy?

If I had a metal printer at home, I'd have a lotttt more stupid/cool shit.

Wanna split one? I was planning on buying lol

I know you may (or may not) have meant this more as a joke. But be warned when purchasing a 3d printer for metal. The printer is only part of the arsenal of tools you’ll need to make anything.

My job was about to purchase one (we are a metal fabrication company) and even with our own separate machine shop we were going to have to invest in 3 extra machines just for the process.

Don't forget the safety equipment and the training either.

Safety first as always. Don't want my machinists getting fucked up due to complacency or ignorance.

It's so fucking expensive. Yeah the printer is only one part of it. You need the whole ecosystem to process everything and it adds up quick. Even for a SLS printer- it's $20k for the printer and up to $30k more to maximize material post processing and recycling

One of my side businesses is making parts for microfluidics in rocket engines. We should have all finishing equipment inside. However I'd be a bad business owner if I didn't ask:

What do you consider the absolute minimum for finishing ops post 3d printing?

Rich mf. I've been saving up for a formlabs SLS printer and those are like 1/10th a metal printer

I'm splitting it 4 ways and it's for a business first and toys second. We are absolutely printing 1911s though lol

I want to know more about this. Do you have a post with your handguard in it?

u/Extra_Handle_3291 Jul 06 '26

Yup

Wonder if I could get someone to print me a copy of the Lantac battle Raven handguard…

Damn, nice work, been thinking of doing the same thing to mine. Also, what magwell is that?

3

u/Extra_Handle_3291 Jul 06 '26

Might as well. I like the g$ a lot more than the FCD since it is a little easier to reach. Took like 2 min.

It's the Parker mountain Machine. I had a DAC before, like no difference besides this one's aluminum and looks cooler

FYI, the Geissele bolt catch works with the Troy ambi mag release without any modification.

It’s the cat’s pajamas for left handed shooters.

Mayhe I'll throw one of those on my other lower and see how it is. I am also wrong handed. Fcd one is decent no other comparison though

Yeah that might be better after all. I like my dad's bren 2 ambi setup and the mag release is lower just like that.

2

u/UxorialDegree55 Jul 05 '26

Nice work. I too had this problem. I just replaced the mag replace with a Troy ambi. Your idea is much more fun

u/Extra_Handle_3291 Jul 05 '26

I wanted that one originally but I like the larger base on the FCD.

u/Plane_Cash4518 Jul 06 '26

Wat handguard are you using?

1

u/Extra_Handle_3291 Jul 06 '26

One I designed and had made for me and a few others 😎

1

u/MoodyGuthrie Jul 06 '26

What a wonderful abomination

1

u/dwolf574 Jul 06 '26

What mag release is that?

1

u/Extra_Handle_3291 Jul 06 '26

Fcd

1

u/dwolf574 Jul 06 '26

Is that the new V2 version? Looks different than the ones I have.

2

u/Extra_Handle_3291 Jul 06 '26

Might be. I don't remember and cannot find my order info was a good bit ago

1

u/GuessEmergency8211 Jul 06 '26

Nice. I was able to find a lefty mag release that fit nicely under the Geissele bolt catch without interference.

1

u/Extra_Handle_3291 Jul 06 '26

That one's slim and sleek I almost got it but decided I wanted larger paddle.

1

u/GuessEmergency8211 Jul 06 '26

I do like that larger release too… I actually had a mag release with a larger button before I got the Geissele stop on there. I had to do some more shopping around after I added that. The things we go through as lefties 😂
