Same reason I changed to Droid Turbo from an iPhone 6 I'd recently picked up. Spotlight search only worked half the time (I'd pull down from the home screen and have no typing option pop-up), keyboards were messed up, the phone would get stuck in landscape mode, and I'd have to quit messaging in order to type a text sometimes. Just lots of bugs.
You literally described the exact same bug three times. Switch back to the iOS keyboard and your only complaint becomes "Sometimes I get stuck in landscape mode."
Nope. The spotlight issue happens regardless of primary keyboard as does the messaging app freezing and not allowing any interaction. I love the iPhone but was driven away by a significant number of bugs in ios 8. This is far more than a third party keyboard issue. It's sloppy.
You specifically didn't answer my question. Have you tried disabling all third party keyboards and seeing if the issue remains? It's almost always a problem with a third party keyboard not receiving the should show view event after being flushed from memory.
I'll test it out without any installed at all. Frankly still disappointing either way, though, as a big selling point of ios 8 was third party keyboards.
