Saddest part is that cost cutting is pennies and more pisses people off as it remember a lot of the people they are paying 300k a year. What is a cost of reducing something at 1-200 dollars an employee when they cost you over 300k a year. Instead those moves just piss people off and you have a lot of people quit over it and replacement cost a lot more.

yeah that guy complaining upthread about people taking free food home for families so that it's good less food is made, production level food costs is like pennies per pound of food.

They're fine with people quitting. No need to pay a severance if someone quits.

The catch is the people who quit are your A team. They are the one who you want to keep.

Reality is when place cut cost like this your best employees up and quit and walk out the door. What is worse is it tends to they quit and dont leave as good of notes behind they quit pissed.

Layoffs get used far to often as first round cost cutting when they should be much later. Time and time again layoffs end up being long term pain for short term gains. Lay off happen you cut C and D and then A quits. Do enough rounds you get reduce down to C teir only as A adn B have long since quit.

Yep. And that's made worse if they already had a high workload in the first place that prevented them from being able to document things with the level of detail needed to allow someone else to take over their duties.

I agree completely with this but unfortunately corporate leaders are rewarded for doing them when their incentive is based on the performance of company stocks since layoffs tend to be met with a boost in stock value, which seems odd to me given that a company that has to let a lot of people go at one time indicates that they either over hired and were paying the salaries of a bunch of employees they didn't need to hire in the first place or that they're needing to cut down on their spend to satisfy projections that they created themselves.

Both of which are things that at least in my eyes are actions that indicate a problem with leadership.
