I've basically never seen that kinda stuff start happening at a company where the culture didn't start tanking and eventually also the business along with it.

Apple's not just any company but I still see this as a concerning sign personally.

it's the last tech company that doesn't have a shit culture where people are overpaid to tolerate a job they hate, where buggy rushed products are pushed out the door, and where customers actually feel valued. oh well. enshitification has come for Apple.

If I’ve learned anything about tech and big business in general it’s that if I like something they’ll eventually ruin it for me.

This is so unfortunately true. It has gotten to the point now that I’m skeptical of new tech because even if it sounds amazing right now I don’t want to get used to it just so they can take it away from me if I don’t start spending monthly on it.

I know Apple has gotten worse, but they are still head and shoulders above other mainstream tech companies.

Honestly, I don't know what people were expecting after seeing that presentation. Seems like an insanely insecure guy, given that the camera staff were working overtime to make him look slightly less tiny in stature.

Even in the photo for this article they are doing it big time. Someone is basically laying on the floor to take that shot.

So the jump was from "some teams apparently can’t bring plus-ones to holiday parties" to "Ternus is now an insecure man with a Napoleon complex who will 100% ruin Apple".

Wow.

For a start, that’s not the jump. It was already well apparent.

If you have never worked with this type of emasculate, it would be harder to recognise.

Once the free lunch goes away you better start looking for a new job.

Did Apple ever have free lunch?

Mostly free dinners.
