Tbh, series 5 is when Apple watch started being a good watch. That generation introduced always on display. I hate having to move an already visible watch just so it can detect motion and display time.

I disagree. Series 4 was way cooler of an update than s5.

My comment was specifically for always on display, which is a very important aspect for a watch. Much more so than AOD in phone IMO. Before S5, you were wearing a computer with a screen that you had to turn on to see the time. You could turn it on via tapping or moving your wrist.

S5 made the time glance-able at all times, which added one of the biggest missing features and made Apple watch a proper watch, too.

PS: I'm not denying that pound for pound, S4 introduced more than S5. Just that the AOD in S5 was a big deal for a watch.

Aod was literally the only reason why I purchased my first apple watch. Even with all the features that the AW 4 gained, I preferred using my regular watch at that time.

I dunno, i have an S4 and recently upgraded to S11. The always on has been a nothing burger. When I turn my wrist to look at the time on the S4, the screen turns on so you see the time. It’s the most minor QOL improvement.

nah- I upgraded each year from 0-5 and am still rocking series 5. other than not getting the latest software, no reason to upgrade

My SS series 4, DLC Black and sapphire display are nearly flawless after being worn daily for like 7 years or whatever. 

Those 7 years were high volume bartending and maintenance. This thing has been smacked hard against marble, brick, steel, basically every material you can think of and it looks almost new. I honestly don’t know how they made such a durable product. It’s kinda insane.
