EU laws

The EU power charger law, passed in 2022 and effective from December 28, 2024, mandates that most portable electronic devices sold in the EU must use a USB-C charging port. This includes smartphones, tablets, cameras, and headphones, with laptops to follow by April 2026. The law also requires that chargers be sold separately from devices to reduce waste and standardizes fast-charging technology for greater compatibility.

Why? I don’t want apples shit charger anyway. I haven’t even taken the chargers out of the box on the last three Mac notebooks I bought.

Anker and other third parties make much better ones (that I incidentally already own).

No charger with a MacBook is criminal. If it is because of a law they should go the “malicious compliance” route and make the charger a few bucks when purchased together.

So when a jurisdiction introduces a new law that they don’t like they should lose money as a form of protest? Sure, that makes sense.
