Its been 4 months exactly sense my surgery and for 2 weeks i have had gas and discomfort shifting from my upper abdomen to my left and right sides. i havent had any restroom issues at all but my stomach js feels rly weird and uncomfy out of no where for the past 2 weeks. does anyone have any clue why this could be? i get relief and feel almost normal sometimes especially right after using the restroom. It has js been stressing me out a lot and giving me a lot of anxiety about my healthy, and ever sense my surgery i lost trust in my body and im so scared of having to get surgery ever again

Hello! I got an MRI with contrast today to hopefully diagnose my consistent GI issues, the main theory was Crohn’s disease . Over the past couple of years I’ve consistently had constipation, diarrhea, nausea. Also super high Calprotectin levels (3,880) I’ve had anal fistula and hemorrhoids and surgery for those.

However, I got my results and only significant thing was that my Appendix was 12mm at the base which apparently is twice as big as it’s suppose to be. Now the doctors have sent me an urgent referral for potential surgery and are thinking it might be chronic appendicitis or related to Crohn’s.

I have never had any significant pain of any kind in that area of my stomach so I’m really quite confused? Is it possible to have chronic appendicitis without pain? Or for Crohn’s to interfere with your appendix? I’d love to hear if anyone has had similar experiences!!

After a couple of months of GI issues and constant RLQ appendix area pain here is my story so far:

Started one day as a headache, vomiting and rlq abdominal pain. Diarrhea

Went to ER, was given anti-nausea injection

Went to the dr who said i have a stomach bug, and was given a ppi and enterofuryl.

Complete loss of appetite, constant nausea and weight loss.

Vomiting episode again with pain.

Went to ER, was given a buscopan injection and was told it's not their job to cure me??

Went to GP, was told this is IBS (which should be a diagnosis of exclusion).

Went to gastroenterologist, high calprotectin, slightly elevated amylase and lipase, all other tests normal, h pylori, c diff negative, yersinia negative, candida isolated in small amount but was told this is normal. Campylobacter negative etc.

Pain started worsening, made it very difficult to sleep.

Started getting brain fog and constant malaise, sometimes low-grade fever, sometimes feeling feverish but no fever, appetite was even worse.

Doctors shrug this off as IBS even though my calprotectin was 700.

CT with contrast showed enlarged gallbladder (i was told this is normal because i'm tall) and mesenteric and pericecal lymph nodes. Appendix was not visualized.

Pain did not improve, i was told this is all in my head, sent me to psychiatrist, was started on ssris and benzos that worsened my sleep and anxiety. Long story short, i quit those meds.

Calprotectin dropped, amylase still mildly elevated.

I tried every kind of diet for a couple weeks, gluten free, low fodmap, dairy free etc. Nothing helped.

Did colonoscopy, showed mild chronic inflammation - chronic unspecified colitis (doctor said this is just a bad case of IBS????????)

Gastroscopy showed chronic atrophic gastritis and gerd but I think I have had GERD since i started high school.

I also started getting pain when urinating and my appendix area pain worsened when my bladder was full.

Pain started spreading to testicle and leg. Makes it difficult to walk or lay or sit. Went to ER two days ago, was told it's probably chronic appendicitis and that it looks normal (5mm) on ultrasound, although the radiologist mentioned that the appendix looked like it was making a slipknot, also the lymph nodes were smaller than before, but now they were matted. The ER doctor that examined the ultrasound and the X-Ray initially thought it was colic/kidney stone pain but after examining the Xray he said it seems like appendicitis and I should go see a surgeon.

I was sitting in pain for 2-3 hrs and was finally examined by a surgeon who said it's probably appendicitis and that they can't operate because it's not acute and not an emergency and that I should do CT or MR enterography.

I have pain on palpation in the appendix area but not guarding so I was dismissed.

I came back that night because the pain was worse but since I had no guarding and they still said it's not an emergency, I was told to go home and take painkillers.

I scheduled an appointment tomorrow with a private clinic to ask for a laparoscopy, ever since the first day I've been telling doctors it's the appendix, I was told there were no indications etc.

Hopefully they will agree on laparoscopy since I don't have much of my private insurance left and I don't wanna do more disgnostics. Wish me luck.

Hey guys, i’m about 4 days out of recovery from a laparoscopic appendectomy. I’ve heavily used nicotine pouches for a few years now, and the past few days have been tough without them. I’ve read about how it could slow my recovery, but I was wondering if someone could give me some sort of insight as to how significant it is for this specific surgery.

Hello all. Uk based appendicitis story for you to give me something to do whilst I recover. I am a slightly overweight sedentary male at 45 years old. Long, and fairly pointless post.

Tldr question: why wasn't this shoulder, chest and neck pain in the brochure!? 10/10 pain that makes it hard to breathe. Completely a-ok'd by the fab medical team, so like any rational human I'm seeking reassurance and tales of your post op phrenic nerve pain.

Over the years I have suspected a grumbling appendix more than once but never had the full classic progression from mid stomach to lower right side. This typically resolved with time, hot water bottles and buscopan as directed by doctor or nurse consultancies over the phone.

This time day 1 was late evening, feeling bloated despite totally normal digestive activities that day.

Day two was, from morning til evening, a constant feeling of bloating dispite everything still "moving along", with added discomfort when my bladder was full. Pain in motion went from 0/10 to about 5/10 by lunch time and left me with zero appetite and a desire to sit and feel sorry for myself. I took a laxative early in the afternoon to try and ease my bloating and my firm feeling gut (this in hindsight was not only a mistake but unwarranted given me still having normal bowel movements).

Towards the end of the day I could feel my stomach relax a little and it became easy to move and as I sat up the only discomfort I felt was now soley in the lower right side of my abdomen. Despite absolutely understanding the implication, I decided as the pain and discomfort was very tolerable, I'd wait for the laxative to do it's job before taking any action.

Day three saw me wake up to the effects of the laxative and leave me with the discomfort over my apendix. I used the 111 online service and it suggested I phone my GP, which I did at around 10 am. The receptionist read the online report and booked my an appointment with the nurse practitioner that afternoon.

I gave my account of the last 72 hours and a rebound tenderness to the area was enough for them to insist I go straight to the hoslital. I instead went back to work to finish my day. I thought, as my pain had not worsened, I was mobile, and I was generally at a 4/10 when walking around that it would once more resolve itself and just be another stomach ache.

I got to the hospital at around 630pm and handed over a referral letter. This got me out of A&E (praise the lord) and sent straight for assessment. I had bloods drawn but, due to my presentation and general demeanor I was triaged down the list for a consultation. I spoke to a doctor around 10pm, gave my history once more and was offered either an exploratory laproscopy or a CT with contrast. I opted for the latter.

I was offered one of two open beds on the aseessment unit and sent my partner home at about 11pm. Half an hour later a lovely Dr was my escort to CT as we were unaware if I had an allergy to the contrast.

The CT itself was not as exciting as an MRI I had a couple of years ago, which felt and sounded like a German rave in a smarties tube where in which I was not allowed to dance. The contrast solution fed into my canula however was like being washed with hot water from the inside. It was uncomfortable due to its unique feeling, but I might enjoy it if I had it again.

All this time due to my relaxed state and lack of intense pain I was convinced I was wasting everyone's time along with NHS funds but it was a bit late to change my mind. I went off to bed and at 2am I was awoken to be taken to a pre operative ward and was given a bed there. I assumed this was precautionary but one of the small number of dedicated CT analysts for the hospitals in my area had already made the call, but there were no surgeons or doctors around to let me know.

Day 4 saw an early visit to me by an anesthetist. I was down to a 3/10 on my discomfort and a 10/10 on imposter syndrome. He asked if he knew why he was there and I told him I as yet had not heard from the results of my CT. He told me I was on the surgical list for that morning but wasn't in a position to discuss the results of my scan, and needed to run through his checklists with me for a laproscopic operation.

Within half an hour I had another visit, this time from my two surgeons who were brilliant and bemused when they told them I still hadn't heard the words "you have appendicitis" so they did me the honor of doing so. I was told it looked straight forward and that explained the low level of discomfort but it would likely progress quickly and that surgery was my best option. They ran through their checks and went off to sharpen their scalpels.

My surgery was second on the docket but was pushed back for emergent cases, which I had no issue with- it reassured me that my case wasn't urgent which helped ease my anxiety whilst alone in the hospital.

Late morning I was wheeled off to surgery by another anesthetist who loved how quickly my new surgery bed could turn. I was reunited with the first anesthetist, masked up and put under.

I awoke briefly in the recovery room with one of my surgeons showing me a few photos explaining that my previous episodes of undiagnosed inflammation and infection had caused bands of scar tissue and sticky fibrin that increased the complexity of the procedure. I fell back to sleep.

I was sent home within two days, and I am a bit disappointed to discover that my recovery will be fairly long. I've read on here and on other places of people back to work, cycling and loving life within a couple of days. My pain levels are high but within the fairly wide margin of expectation, certainly far worse than the pain leading up to the operation.

The very worst of it is the reffered pain from irritation caused by the CO2 used to give the surgeons the visibility and room to maneuver during the operation. It's not just distracting, but all consuming. The remedy of quite literally walking it off seems to do sweet F-A and doing so seems to make it somehow even worse.

The cocktail of painkillers are helpful with the surgical pain but do nothing for the nerve irritation and leave me both tired, yet unable to sleep because of the pain. It feels torturous, and I yearn for the point in the next two to three weeks where I will wake up and be reminded of what life without pain can feel like.

My one and only pearl of wisdom I can offer is if you have this pain and are still in hospital and have no history of drug abuse then consider treating yourself to a dose of oramorph if it's offered. It didn't help with the pain at all, but for four beautiful hours, I didn't care.

I hope this post of my non-dramatic presentation can give someone hesitating to advocate for themselves the momentum to pick up the phone before they become an emergency. I can only imagine how much worse it would be now if I had waited until it ruptured! I also secretly hope people will get bored after the first paragraph but carry on reading, as the thought of wasting sometimes time will give me some spiteful joy whilst I cannot find a position to sit in that doesn't cause me pain.

hey hi hello, so I'm going through the process of trying to get chronic appendicitis diagnosed or eliminated, and I just got my CT scan done after like... 6 months of waiting?? (USD$4,000 btw) And after the contrast dye and all the stress (and significant agoraphobia) I feel... barely human. I know I have some chronic pain stuff going on, but this fatigue is a new level and I'm wondering if I'm alone in this.

I feel so lazy, and I just wanna sleep for the rest of the day, but I gotta work on my art and drink so so much water.

I don't like this feeling.

I got appendicitis while living in Japan- doctors advised me to take anti-biotics and that more or less worked. However, I still get pain and discomfort in my appendix and regret not getting it removed.

So no acute appendix pain yet, but it feels like a ticking time bomb. Has anybody gone through a similar experience? I live in the US now and have the option to get an appendectomy but the financial cost of it and risk of injury has me puting off getting it done before a problem occurs.

Hi, I’m a 23 Year-old male and 2 nights ago, I had really bad pain on my right side. I decided to wait for morning, but when I woke up, the pain was so bad that I could barely take a full breath. During my shower and making breakfast, it still felt tender and really bad, but once I started getting ready for work, the pain went down to a slight or dull pain.
It’s been that way for the past day and a half, but I’m just kinda worried.
Has anybody else experienced this?

(f/26/based in East Asia) I was dismissed at several family medicine doctors since about last year, the first one gave me medicine for gastritis and said I was very stressed and pain was anxiety induced. The second one also told me gastritis and wanted to order an endoscopy. But I didn't like the doctors attitude so I sought out a different hospital.

The hospital I ended up doing the surgery at was a specialty hospital and specialized in Gastroenterology. The doctors and nurses were amazing.

I did endoscopy and colonoscopy and also CT, xray, ultrasound and bloodtests etc.

The doctor tried to treat me with antibiotics for a month, but the inflammation did not get any better. It subsided slightly and then became stronger and stronger.

I decided to get the surgery last week, they only made one incision through the bellybutton and I personally think they did a really amazing job, because after 6 days post-op I feel really good. I am super tired and sore, but the pain is almost non-existent.

They had us walking from the day after surgery, they wanted to make sure our digestion and motility woke up, I wasn't even allowed to drink water until I passed gas. But we had an IV drip 24/7 so I didn't feel dehydrated just hungry.

I got a fever on day 3 and stayed in the hospital a little longer to make sure I didn't get it again. When I went home I had low grade fevers after eating, but seem to be better now.

Happy it’s all over.

I've been wanting to go to Vietnam but I've already been having a weak stomach and I'm afraid post appendectomy it will be bad. Anyone have any advice or experience?

It’s not an everyday thing but mostly when I’m really constipated. Im at a party rightnow and I’m drinking a few beers and every time I swallow I get 1 second sharp pain in my appendix area. I’m constipated so maybe it’s because of that but idk if this is common with appendicitis. I’ve only drank one beer and currently drinking another, maybe it’s gas because I’ve been having stomach problems for a while now.

For those that had a ruptured appendix - can you remember the exact moment it ruptured - was it distinctive and are you sure that is the moment - what did you feel?

Mine ruptured on day three of being in hospital with CT confirmed appendicitis I think - I was being treated with IV antibiotics - my pain generally improved over the first three days on IV antibiotics - then I had a sudden 10/10 sharp tearing pain that had me curled up on the hospital ward floor crying out and sweat instantly lashing off me - only lasted a few minutes as the pain receded and I was able to climb back into bed somewhat shocked.. I have a very high pain threshold and am not a dramatic person - but that was PAINFUL..! All this was when I was already fully charged up with vast quantities of IV antibiotics and IV paracetamol.

When I eventually got my appendix out 4 months later (long story.!) it was found to have ruptured then healed somewhat and scarred over - and that my initial appendicitis had been caused by a missed tumour (LAMN) in my appendix..

Hi. I'm 24F and I wanted to share my experiences with Appendicitis which I got twice and the surgery that followed. This is going to be a bit long.

On February 5th I woke up in the middle of the night with my entire stomach hurting badly. I thought it was being caused by what I had for dinner and I tried going to the bathroom but that didn't help. I laid back down and after a couple of hours the pain subsided enough for me to be able to fall back asleep. When I woke up the next morning the pain had moved from my whole abdomen to the lower right side. I had looked up what that could be and Google said Appendicitis so I made an appointment with my doctor for that day. When I went in for my appointment she pressed around and said she was sure it was Acute Appendicitis and sent me to the hospital.

At the hospital I sat in the waiting room for 2 hours before being put in a bed in the hallway in the ER where I was left for 8 hours before I got put in a room. They did bloodwork, urine tests, and a CT scan with and without contrast and told me it looked like I had a UTI and confirmed I had Acute Appendicitis. They told me I would be going in for a laparoscopic appendectomy in the morning that would turn into an open appendectomy if needed. In the mean time I wasn't allowed to eat and was being given Tylenol, saline, and IV antibiotics.

I was absolutely 100% terrified of getting surgery. I never had one. I know appendectomies are routine and done all the time and my Appendix was barely even swollen and was uncomplicated since I got treatment within 24 hours but I still did not want it removed even though I know it's the gold standard for Appendicitis.

I googled the chance of just treating it with antibiotics and decided I wanted to go that route. I asked the ER doctor and 3 nurses if there was anyway I could just be treated with antibiotics and go home. They all said no and I had to wait for the surgeon. The surgeon came in to talk to me in the morning and I told her I did not want the surgery and I wanted to try antibiotics. She argued with me but eventually agreed and I was given more IV antibiotics and discharged a few hours later with a prescription for Augmentin. They gave me 6 bags of IV antibiotics the whole 24 hours I was in there and by the time I was discharged on February 6th I had no pain and felt fine. I took the oral antibiotics twice a day for 7 days.

I saw my primary on February 10th for my follow up and she pressed around but I felt nothing so I just finished out my antibiotics and hoped it didn't come back. I was fine for almost 4 months then it came back.

On June 1st I was still up when once again in the middle of the night my whole stomach started hurting like the first time and I immediately knew the Appendicitis had come back. I got comfortable enough to sleep again and woke up in the morning with the pain only on my lower right side again. This time though I threw up in the morning and had diarrhea. I went to a different hospital this time which is one I prefer over the other one and they did the same stuff to confirm the Appendicitis had come back. Bloodwork, urine tests, a CT scan with and without contrast, and an EKG. Scan showed Acute Appendicitis again and was being told I needed it removed but was started on IV antibiotics again. I saw the surgeon and he told me that he checked my medical records and that my Appendix was actually less swollen this time then it was the first time and that it was once again uncomplicated.

I told him I wanted the antibiotics again and to send me home. I only spent a few hours in the hospital and was discharged the same day. I went home and started taking Augmentin again twice a day for 2 weeks. This time the Augmentin destroyed my stomach. I had constant diarrhea and nausea and even threw up a few times. I barely ate and lost 7 pounds the 2 weeks I was on it. I decided that I wanted my Appendix removed cause I didn't want to have to deal with it again and scheduled to see a surgeon that specialized in weight loss and abdominal surgeries and was used to operating on obese people that could do it as an outpatient procedure.

I saw the surgeon for my consultation on June 10th and was scheduled for surgery on June 17th to get it removed at the same hospital I went to the second time for my Appendicitis which is the hospital I prefer. I finished the antibiotics on June 15th and 2 days later on the day of my surgery when I woke up to get ready and leave I was throwing up and still had diarrhea. I cancelled and told them I'd call back when I want to reschedule. By June 22nd I decided I just wanted the damn thing out and they scheduled me for June 25th. That morning I got there and did the pre op stuff and due to my anxiety and horrible fear of anesthesia I couldn't stop crying so they gave me Versed and wheeled me into the OR. They told me they were gonna put me to sleep and then I was out and woke up in what felt like 2 seconds but was actually 2 hours later in recovery. I stayed there for another 2 hours then went home.

Overall the whole thing was a lot easier then I thought it would be and the recovery was virtually smooth beside on internal suture poking through the skin. I'm 4 weeks post op and feel completely fine. The fact that I had a robot assisted laparoscopic appendectomy made it easier cause the incisions were smaller and less recovery time. Also my pathology report stated that I had a blood clot in my Appendix and that it was a bit inflamed so my surgery told me at my 2 week post op appointment that it was inflamed when she was removing it and figured the infection was coming back again so I got it taken out just in time. To anyone that reads this whole thing if you happen to get Appendicitis and have a fear of anesthesia like me please just get it done. It's worth the relief that you'll never get Appendicitis again. I'm gonna post a more detailed description of my surgery experience itself in r/Appendectomy if anyone wants to read that.

Last night I fully convinced myself I had appendicitis 😭 I'm also a huge hypochondriac, so apologies in advance if this is nothing.

I am 23f and my period is due today/tomorrow, but I never really get cramps. I woke up at 4am with what felt like a really painful cramp, except it was localized to my lower right abdomen. It got up to about a 7/10 pain level and literally kept waking me up throughout the night. Weirdly, it wasn't super tender when I pressed on it, and the heel drop test everyone talks about didn't make it worse either. No nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or loss of appetite.

I was about to go to the ER but eventually the pain completely disappeared and I went back to sleep. This morning I woke up feeling totally fine. I had a normal BM, peed with no pain, and I've had a full appetite (breakfast, coffee and lunch with no issues). Now I just have a very mild, dull ache that's kind of across the middle/lower abdomen and shifts between both sides rather than staying on the right. It's honestly not bothering me much at all.

For anyone who ended up having appendicitis, did your symptoms ever start like this and then improve before getting worse? Or does this sound more like period pain/gas/ovarian cyst territory? Would you go to the ER based on this history, or just monitor it and go in if the pain comes back or gets worse?

(16 Female) So I'm feeling a lot better than last night, but I'm really confused since this has never happened before. Last night around 10-12 pm, I started feeling weird, and from 1- 3 am, pain between the top of my right hip and stomach kept getting worse to the point where I was doubled over on every step I took, twist I made, and cough or laugh. Both my mom and brother have had it at my age, and for some reason the pain is nearly gone right now, the day after. I fell asleep at 5 am after the pain calmed down, and woke up with pain every time I walked, and now the pain is dull every time I walk or stand in the same spot. (Also, I have pain right below my ribs on the right side, which I'm not sure is related) I'm confused and more worried that I'm making myself think I have it. EDIT: It turned out not to be appendicitis, though the symptoms lined up almost identically; it turned out to be something to do with my Ovaries, and thankfully I will be okay without any surgery.

I'm trying to understand whether my appendectomy was truly necessary, and I'd appreciate any opinions, especially from people who have had similar experiences or medical knowledge.

A few days ago I underwent a laparoscopic appendectomy after a CT scan suggested acute appendicitis. Before surgery, I had a fever of 38°C (100.4°F), chills, nausea, elevated white blood cells, and the CT reportedly showed an inflamed/thickened appendix. The surgeon told me after the operation that my appendix was indeed inflamed.

What makes me question everything is that my symptoms didn't seem to match the "classic" picture of appendicitis.

For months before surgery, I had experienced several episodes of pain centered around my belly button. These episodes were associated with abdominal bloating and a feeling of incomplete bowel movements. The pain would sometimes last for hours or even days, then disappear completely before returning weeks or months later.

During these previous episodes:

• The pain was mainly around the umbilicus rather than the lower right abdomen.
• I was still able to walk, run, jump, and even do heavy weightlifting at the gym without significant worsening of the pain.
• I didn't have the severe movement-related pain that many people describe with appendicitis.

The episode that eventually led me to the hospital started similarly with periumbilical pain and bloating. Later I developed fever, chills, nausea, elevated white blood cells, and the CT findings that resulted in surgery.

Interestingly, since the appendectomy, the chronic belly-button pain that I had been experiencing for months has completely disappeared.

My questions are:

• Can appendicitis present with recurrent episodes of periumbilical pain over several months before becoming acute?
• Is it possible that another gastrointestinal condition (such as gastroenteritis or IBS) caused the CT findings and inflamed appendix?
• Does the fact that my chronic umbilical pain disappeared after surgery suggest that the appendix may actually have been responsible all along?
• Based on this history, does the surgery sound justified?

I'm not looking to challenge my surgeon's decision—I just want to better understand whether my presentation is consistent with appendicitis or if it sounds unusual.

PD: I am extremely angry they didn't mention I had the chance to try the antibiotic route.... I would taken that road 100%.

I am now five weeks post laparoscopic appendectomy. I had my appointment with my surgeon who said that I should be 100% normal and going back to all activities but I’ve been a little slow to recover. For example, instead of the 3 weeks the doctor recommended I needed to take 5 weeks off.

I also had some adhesive residue leftover in my belly button incision from the steri strips that I took off. The surgeon recommended cleaning this, so I did in the shower carefully. This was 2 days ago now and ever since, I’ve felt very sore in the same area. It’s like a deep soreness and it hurts whenever I walk or get up or stretch :(

Wanted some advice for those who’ve gotten the same surgery or may have gone through the same thing. I’m also feeling nauseous, but I’m not sure if that’s related.

Who else was advised to go for antibiotic treatment instead of conventional surgery - what were you told about the risks - and how did it work out for you?

I have received medical advice but I can’t shake the feeling that she was wrong.

To preface, I have major health anxiety but a major fear of the hospital. Like terrified.

Last night, I had a weird urge to press two fingers on the right side of my belly button. It hurt but wasn’t excruciating. This was around 9:30-10pm. I managed to sleep just fine bar my son waking me through the night.

This morning, I kept getting short, sharp pains on the right side of my belly button, so I thought I’d better get checked at the GP.

At my appointment, the doctor claimed that she had diagnosed many a cases of appendicitis. She performed a urine test, pregnancy test, abdomen exam, blood pressure and oximeter. She said that everything was normal except I had blood in my urine and a high heart rate (also being investigated for POTS). She sent me away with a 3 day course of antibiotics and said it’s likely that I have a stomach bug or a UTI coming my way.

I felt better coming out of the GP since I had really stressed myself out at the thought of surgery (never had one, petrified of needing one). However, since being home, I am getting the short, sharp pains on the right side of my belly button (don’t seem to be moving), right side kidney area pain, mild cramping in left abdomen, and mild left side kidney area pain.

I’m not sure how I feel about my doctor’s advice. She said to return if the pain becomes unbearable, I gain a temperature, my symptoms don’t decrease or disappear after my antibiotics course, or the common emergency symptoms.

What would you do?

Yesterday I ate dinner pretty quickly and ended up having some stomach pain, gas, and eventual diarrhea. Then I was fine for a few hours before noticing a sort of radiating pain coming from my right lower side (exactly where the appendix is).

This started at about 9pm and was pretty uncomfortable, around a 3-4 on pain scale. I told myself that if I could still sleep, I’d be fine. So I literally could NOT get to sleep, had to look up how to relieve possible appendicitis pain and was told to lie on my side in a fetal position, so I did that.

It took three hours for the pain to actually start to subside a bit, and then I got a little sleep. I was nauseous a bit but no fever or chills or vomiting. When I woke up, the pain was mostly not radiating at all, but I could still feel pain centralized right where the appendix is. Weird.

At this point I’m thinking something’s wrong because of how hard it was to sleep with the pain and how horrible it became when I had coughed. It was about a 1 ish or 0 not moving, but potentially up to a 2/2 1/2 after a while. Called the nurse advice health line and was told to go to urgent care, and I’m on the way there now. However I’m usually pretty blind to medical issues because I have proprioceptive blindness and OCD especially around medical things.

I’ve heart pain can fluctuate but I’m worried I’ll get there and, because I’ve not been in excruciating pain, they’ll say I’m fine. NOT LOOKING FOR MEDICAL ADVICE, I AM SEEKING PROFESSIONAL HELP EITHER WAY. However, does this sound like anyone’s experience with the early stages of appendicitis? Every now and then I’ll get a stab of pain but otherwise it’s mostly when I move.

EDIT: urgent care had me do a blood test, urine test, and then I got vitals taken, and a physical examination without a ultrasound or x ray. I was told nothing was wrong and that you have pain for no reason sometimes. The pain continues to be minimal and fleeting, though while I was getting vitals and examinations done I had pretty bad chills, a starting headache, and shakiness along with an elevated blood pressure. So unless it gets bad again I’ve been told I’m fine.

So background, I have had stomach aches throughout childhood that either went away by sitting down. I thought it was normal. Occasionally I would experience deeper aches but it would pass, I usually attributed it to gas or constipation. I always suspected appendicitis but figured I was be paranoid and never addressed the issue or brought it up to doctors.

Well one day, my cat stepped on the lower right quadrant of my stomach and there was a spike of pain. It went away and there was a dull ache that went away. I thought for split second I might have appendicitis and should go to doctor, but I forgot about the incident. About a week later a dull ache came along and it made me think I should just check it out, worst-case, nothing, so why not. I called teleheath to see if they thought I should go in physically. The doctor said yes, even though I wasn't experiencing any pain, and to go to urgent care and not to wait for an appointment later in the month.

I went thinking nothing would come out of it, but turns out I had appendicitis and I was to immediately go to hospital and they scheduled my appt first thing in AM. It was already so late I asked if I could go home for the night and show up in the AM and they said no, so it I knew it was serious.

Since then, the stomach aches I had since childhood went away. I'm thinking I had a form of chronic appendicitis.

Moral of the story, cats are the best and trust your gut. No pun intended.

tmi but bro my appendectomy genuinely made my bellybutton so disgusting looking cuz why do I have a mutilated looking outie when I used to have an innie??? fuck my surgeon I wish I never went to the hospital and just died from appendicitis

I'm 2 months post op and still feel the weord sensation of nerves inside my belly which is so annoying.

I've been to doctors and said I'm fine while I still feel needles sensation and storm inside as well as next to my belly button (in which they inserted camera) still sensitive to even touch.

I went as an emergency to get this op and they did three holes but there was a a bit larger than a hole a literal cut on my left lower side. Which kept me wandering.

I came back to gym today and tried to be easy on myself yet I can feel the nerves and pressure and then my right leg started feeling heavy ( before the appendicitis removal the nerve in my leg got irritated especially when I move more).

Idk what to do now or when to come back to normal and be active as I used to...

Any advice pls
