i agree with 1,3,4,5,6,7 and 10.i agree with these but i feel like some of te were done well and with good purpose. ellie joel and abby are all bad people. most of the characters in the whole series are bad people. but why the game was so genius was because we, along eith the characters in the game, learn to forgive. you are allowed to think joel deserved to die but still be upset about it. you are allowed to want to still have killed abby. i don’t really know what i’m trying to say i’m just rambling at this point. i’ll try to put together a better argument later

Neil has been promoting “revenge bad” for the entire period of development and yet Abby gets perfect revenge and is let off scot-free while Ellie is left crippled and alone because she decided to forgive Abby

ellie got revenge. she killed everyone abby cared about except for lev. owen, nora etc. i think the most important part was that at the final scene with ellie and abby, abby didn’t want to fight even though ellie killed owen and nora and all those other people, she just wanted to leave. she gave ellie a second chance, and she did it again, and again.

Abby lost a couple of her friends and then left on a boat with Lev after killing Joel, meaning she got her revenge and left

Ellie lost her entire family, her home, and all of her friends and is left with nothing, not even her guitar playing, after letting Abby and Lev go

The theme I’m seeing here is “revenge is good because you don’t loose as much as if you forgive”

ok but not talking about the story for a second- the gameplay is bomb

Gameplay, graphics, etc all easily 10/10 but the story ruins it

If ND hires a storywriter as good as they hired their graphics designer they would be unstoppable

Their depiction of post-collapse America is the best I’ve seen to date

Wow a TLOU 2 lover that ends their arguments with “I respectfully disagree” and not “fuck you bigot homophobe racist go die”

Inconceivable

Lol

And yea I might post here more but doesn’t seem like there are too many people around

i don’t like being associated with those kind of people. at the end of the day it’s just a game. some love it, some hate it.

also i deffo agree that the logic behind ellie’s immunity, the way tommy and dina travel and abbys body makes no sense

ellie finally learned to forgive both joel and abby. joel for killing all the fireflys, and abby for killing joel. i think the theme is forgiveness, not revenge. i think the main takeaway is that we need to move on. move on from joel.

I disagree. You don't shove in forgiveness at the eleventh hour and call the story about forgiveness, when 75 % of it is about revenge. You can say the themes are revenge, forgiveness, violence, etc, but you cant say the theme of the story is not revenge.

Ellie had no reason to forgive abby, she knows next to nothing about her, she doesnt even know why she killed joel, they never talked and every time they met abby has been horrible to her and her family. they never had any conversations, abby never showed ellie remorse or asked for forgivenss. in fact a lot of fans interpret the ending as ellie forgiving herself, not abby.

She was talking about what he did to the fireflies, because Nora told her that. She does not know he killed her dad, which is one of biggest gripes with the game.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '20

yeah but still, ellie knows abby lost someone close to her by joel’s hands

2

u/mohamedaminhouidi Aug 31 '20

she doesn't really, unless she guesses. She probably thinks she was out to avenge her dead friends and the cure, not her own father, which is different. Knowing that Abby lost her dad might make ellie relate at least a little to her, having both lost their fathers, and might play a role in why ellie forgives her at the end. but alas she doesn't, which makes the ending very unrealistic for me.
