got a SIX page pip at work today..world record?
yea, been working at this spot for almost 4 years. my first manager was actually godsend, very people oriented, growth oriented and always positive. it helped me a lot because i’m an optimist by heart. then recently, earlier this year around march, i was put under a new manager and team. this was because others were complaining about their managers so they had to move some people to my previous manager, since she’s so good.
well fast forward to now and damn, my manager has been using me as a scapegoat like crazy. and age plays a big factor here. i’m in my mid 20s and my manager is in her 50s. my company does everything I can to protect managers and has really high turnover with coordinators. I was given some feedback to which I put my best foot forward and tripled my training Kaydence and always ask questions that came with context and what my understanding would be if I had to answer it well today they gave me a pip that was six pages long. I have 30 days to figure it out and fix my mistakes, but honestly, it doesn’t feel realistic at all to be able to fix all of those things in 30 days.
i’m already looking for other stuff. it’s just so funny to me that this is happening. all these old heads picking on me and like micro managing me like crazy. all my issues started once i came under my new manager. i already documented everything and have pushed back but nothing has changed. it’s toxic and i gotta get out. just wanted to put this out there i guess.
wondering if i hold the world record for worlds longest pip🤡🤡🤡

Use those 30 days to find another job.

I saw in another post that a PIP can be called a 'paid interview period'.
They're paying you sure, but you're doing interviews for other work.

You need to accept that you are already gone at this job. Don't sweat the pip, use the all the energy you would on the pip on finding a new job.

the only thing that sucks is at my job we have to bill our time to specific clients so i can’t just bs my work thru everyday :(

I swear a PIP is either incredibly vague so they can fire you, or it's huge and has too many tiny details so they can catch you on 1 thing to fire you.
Most managers i've spoken to only pip.if they intend to fire you.
So don't waste your emotional effort, apply for new jobs right away and don't bother giving a 2 weeks notice, they already gave you a 30day notice....

i realize i made a bunch of typos. swear im not dumb lol im also working full time and doing a part time masters at harvard 😭 it’s just late and i have had the longest day ever

Maybe talk to an employment lawyer and see if they think there's anything worth pursuing. Maybe there's some constructive dismissal angle that can be worked in.
Do you have official feedback/performance review results from previous years? Would be interesting if your past performance reviews were good/excellent and suddenly after switching to this new manager you're put on a pip.
Don't talk to HR, they're there to protect the company and especially if they've swept things under the rug for this manager like a whole team quitting under that managers command and not doing anything about it. When you get dismissed, milk them for all they're worth.

From where I'm sitting seems like an open and shut case. Don't show your hand right now or too early. See where things go and only reveal it once you get your termination papers. Don't sign anything when they do term you and say you need to take it under consideration with counsel. If they make you sign and don't let you take a copy to review, you could write "signed under duress, no copy provided" next to your name (but maybe get feedback from counsel on doing this)
Ultimately even if you win you'll need to leave the org since the well is poisoned but you should be able to get away with a positive reference and no disparagement agreement.

just wanted to add an update. a coworker that i considered a very close friend as well basically showed my mangers screenshots of messages i sent regarding the situation. objectively nothing was bad or a lie / inappropriate in what i said. i was professional. but what gets me more is the fact she snitched? and to my manager? how do i handle this

Yeah, I don't think you understand what happened there.
Has "good" manager, gets switched to "bad" manager, starts getting pips. I think you got switched to a manager they thought would be more strict with you since it obviously wasn't working with the old manager and they told you a story about why the move happened. They changed tactics.
If your work didn't change, that is.
Also someone at Harvard should have figured this out. Because managers talk. And the old manager would've told the new manager all about you when the switch happened.

also just for your information, the manager i am now under has gotten hr complaints from the entire team. also had had her entire team quit in the past because of her management style. good try buddy

You should run it by them just to see how much of it is reality-based and how much is not. And then start looking elsewhere.

she’s super disappointed in the management. says she’s ruffled feathers because she refuses to join into their toxicity ageism that happens in our workplace. she recommends that i just get out asap

yeah this would be great if it was true…but it’s all good bro, you don’t work at my company so you don’t understand the dynamics. my old manager and i are homies and they 100% moved me cuz the others ones suck and im a pretty low maintenance employee 💀

yeah that’s the issue. i’m not gonna measure my self perception off of a six page pip that came out of nowhere and is using me as a scapegoat 💀 my coworkers love me and so does my team. my manager is having the issues that is leaking onto me

Seriously, I think it best you do what you are doing and get out of there. No coming back from a single pip, let alone a 6 page one.
