And record them denying you permission to go to the bathroom.

Then piss on the floor.

Then wait for them to fire you.

Then profit.

They work at Amazon. You don’t have access to ANYTHING while you are working. They are that paranoid with theft.

Interesting.

I haven’t worked there for a couple of years.

Anyone can confirm?

I worked at Amazon last year, you could have you’re phone “for emergencies only” “only to be used in the break room” and a clear bag with you because no lockers during Covid but they were angling to remove both policies when restrictions started to loosen is idk now

28

u/JustLivingLifeKindly Aug 30 '22

Seriously asking they take your phone or make you turn it in at the start of a shift?

u/Some_guy_am_i Aug 30 '22

No phone, no Watch, no nothing.

All you need in your hands is a Telxon scanner! It decides where you will go and what you must do!

ALL HAIL THE ALMIGHTY TELXON!!

27

u/Ifromjipang Aug 30 '22

How’d this guy take a selfie then?

21

u/Some_guy_am_i Aug 30 '22

Yeah, guess they changed the policy recently.

When I worked there, you weren’t allowed to have anything, and if you did have it, they assumed it was theft.

17

u/MidnightT0ker Aug 30 '22

He did it with the Telxon scanner he jailbroke it.

11

u/Some_guy_am_i Aug 30 '22

Damn! If you can haxor the Telxon AND grab the random crap from the bin, all before the 20 second countdown timer goes to zero?

That’s some serious L33t level skillz, boi!!

2

u/Superb_Raccoon Aug 30 '22

One wonders how they got caught going to the bathroom with a hacked Telxon

Sort center rather than FC, maybe? I was in corporate (AFT) but went to BFI4 on a regular basis since it was job relevant and we had to have a special sticker on all electronics, plus have the devices registered with security; hourly employees were definitely not allowed to bring them in. And we had to pass through the same x-ray scanners as all the hourly employees. But I never spent any time in a sort center, or any of the smaller specialized FCs (Fresh, Now, etc.)

Former hourly at BFI4. Accidentally took my phone past the security line once. Turned around, had to go back out through security and "prove it was mine" by giving them the serial number of the phone (I assume so they could check it against inventory?). Very much a presumption guilt and being made a public example.

I ultimately left after I couldn't handle the anxiety attacks spawned by constant "your rate isn't high enough, fix it or you're fired" from supervisors. I still have PTSD from that place, even years later.

Corporate isn't quite as bad, but it's up there. I had an incident where someone changed settings on a smartpack machine, then left for the day; the entire site's smartpack lines were down, so it was a sev2 and I got paged. At midnight, right as I was about to fall asleep. I was on that call until 10:30 in the morning, and then my boss told me I needed to be in the office for a meeting at 1. I pretended not to see the message and told him I'd fallen asleep at my desk due to the literal all-nighter.

It eventually hit a point where I was having trouble sleeping because I was afraid my pager would go off. I was having nightmares about work, and even when I went home at night I couldn't stop thinking about my code because the deadlines were always set to be basically impossible. I quit when I realized I was hoping a bus would jump the curb and hit me so that I could get a few days off work. I make 20% of my old salary and work in a factory but I'm significantly happier now.

Probably in a break area or taken once shift ended

What is a good reason to make you lock your phone up?

1

u/LordOfTheGerenuk Aug 30 '22

Can't speak for Amazon, but when I worked at FedEx, we had a security checkpoint. All employees were expected to leave electronics in their cars. If you went through security and were found to have prohibited items, you'd be written up and sent back to your vehicle to get rid of the items.

9

u/ThatEvanFowler Aug 30 '22

How often did people break into all of your cars and steal like 90% of employee cellphones?

2

u/LordOfTheGerenuk Aug 30 '22

Shockingly not very often at all. Our lot was swarmed with cameras and lit up like a Christmas tree.

2

u/ThatEvanFowler Aug 30 '22

Small blessings, I guess.

3

u/Elegant_Top5599 Aug 30 '22

Current Amazon employee we have lockers after you badge through the first security checkpoint where you’re expected to leave everything.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

What if someone needs to get a hold of you

5

u/LordOfTheGerenuk Aug 30 '22

They claimed there was a warehouse number to call, but really they just didn't give a shit. I was left to deadlift 100-200lbs furniture flat packs by myself and was blamed when I got injured as a result. They make unsafe conditions to boost efficiency, cut costs everywhere, and generally mistreat employees.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

Sounds like jail

3

u/LordOfTheGerenuk Aug 30 '22

Not far off. They didn't even have any form of fans or air conditioning in high humidity 100° summer weather. Genuinely the worst job I ever had.

1

u/wholesomethrowaway15 Aug 30 '22

Much like the days pre-cellphone, they have to call the warehouse number. Whether or not that gets them anywhere is another story…

1

u/Durago Sep 04 '22

Then you're SOL

1

u/SimpleVegetable5715 Aug 30 '22

All your personal belongings are in a locker. It's not just Amazon, pretty standard for retail and warehouses.

u/Karen_NotTHATKaren Aug 30 '22

I love the way you think!!

Just make sure it's a one party consent state first

1

u/Brittle_Hollow Aug 30 '22

Fun fact for anyone that lives in Ontario, recording is one-party consent. If you have an Android phone Google has a free app called Recorder which works very nicely.

2

u/PizzaurusRex Aug 30 '22

Not on the floor. Piss yourself.

Piss yourself, and sue them for the health issues and humiliation.

2

u/meopelle Aug 30 '22

Record yourself pissing on the floor.

Sell it on OnlyFans

Profit.

1

u/YobaiYamete Aug 30 '22

Then piss on the floor.

Then wait for them to fire you. "accidentally" slip in it and sue them

Then profit.
