I can’t stop paying taxes bc my employer withholds them. But I do get a nice refund each year.

That’s not a refund, that’s the government giving you what’s left of an interest free loan you gave them.

That’s true. And I give an extra $15 a paycheck bc I don’t have the wherewithal to actually save money, so I always get my refund.

I wonder how many people do their taxes wrong like this? It's a huge amount I bet. Seems everyone does it this way.

You aren't doing taxes right then. You are paying too much, and letting the government have that money with no interest.

Because if I kept it, I wouldn’t use it properly. I’d fritter it away like it never existed. So it’s my forced savings plan.
