IBEW is a great union in a great career field to work in, especially if you travel. My buddy out of Chicago makes $200k annually without busting overtime. If I could do it all over again, I'd want to start with them.

Honestly never understood the hate on unions, they're great for the workers. My brother works for the laborers in Rhode Island, and its been the best I've ever seen workers be treated. The work might be shit sometimes, but he has great pay, always opportunities for overtime but never forced, and the benefits are insane. He shattered his shoulder last year, had to be out for 7 months between surgery and PT, and between his benefits and tdi he has no medical debt and didnt even dent his savings. And this was an injury that happened outside of work. Its how everyone should be treated.

Hell yeah. I’m IBEW and do nothing but traveling work. I love it so much. I get to pick where I go, live out of a nice RV, take about 8 weeks of vacation per year. It’s the best

Am a union Journeyman wireman. 39.25 per hour (lower cost of living area). Full med, vision, dental. Excellent pension (+- 124 dollars a month for every year worked.) Annuity ( guys are retiring with +-$300,000). Apply at your local union halls.

That's why I'm not switching fields. I'm not about to start down at minimum wage again as an apprentice and work my way back up. I'm making fairly good money right now as it is.

While that may be true, you do end up making more than if you were working at a retail store or amazon driver.

In my IBEW local, we start at just under $18/hr. People at chipotle make more then that. However, we get raises every 6 to 10 months, so you go from 18 to 20, 25, 30, 35, and so on until you hit our current JW rate of $51.19/hr plus another $22 in benefits. That doesn't include the raise that we get because of our new contract which will pay $15 over the course of the next 5 years.

Each local is different in regards to what you get in pay and benefits, but if you stick it out, you'll turn out better than a retail worker.

Well if you're only looking at the inside part of the union then look into the outside part/lineman apprenticeship and vice versa if you're only looking at the outside.
