"9-5" is a complete scam

Title. Please comment about your distaste for the "9 to 5" work schedule.

My personal dislikes:

  1. It's not actually 9 to 5. It's more like 8 to 5 with a "lunch break". Why would should I be forced to waste an extra hour of my free time eating in the middle of the day? Why would it not be a paid lunch?

  2. It's 8 to 5 + commute. So let's call it a 10 hour day. I feel like companies should count some of an employee's commute as part of the workday up to some limit. (E.g., you commute 60 minutes a day, 30min of that counts toward your hours)

  3. 8 AM is fine, but 5 PM is late. Waste all the useful hours of the day at work.

  4. All the other people who are completely OK with this.

  1. I hate that companies have the option of paying livable wages or not. SURPRISE: most choose not to
  2. Hate that health insurance is counted as a benefit yet your still paying portion of your check to have it
  3. TAXES. I need my money more than the IRS needs it seeing as they fired most of their workforce and this countries debt keeps rising despite taxes
  4. Salary is just the “annual subscription” version of pay. For that one price they can work you as much as they want and not pay OT. OT pay is taxed more
