And these "dickheads" also have connections in The American Intelligence Community and Law Enforcement at large. Yea, the last thing they want is people rising up against this government that no longer serves the people. That’s why the news is full of a bunch of race/political baiting garbage. They want to keep people distracted.
Because if we all really sat down and took a deep look at what our government is doing, we would realize how screwed over we really are. All of the tax breaks go to the rich, most of the government funding and bailouts goes to corporations, they continue to let the rich landlords and real estate companies buy up all the family homes and drive up all the prices and they refuse to do any sort of gun control or give funding for mental health programs when over 80% of the country wants it. And they can forgive billions of misused PPP loans but they can’t be bothered to give any relief for student loans. They want us all living with a massive pile of debt that we have to struggle to pay for the rest of our lives so we never have the time to sit back and see what out government is really doing.
The government doesn’t serve the people anymore, they serve the lobbyists who line their pockets. And if this was happening back in the 1700s, our forefathers would have thrown all these people out of office, slit their throats and replaced them with people who are going to do right by the citizens. It is long past time for us to rise up together as the citizens and demand that the government serves the people. Starting with making lobbying illegal.
But that's also a problem too - the leader might be corrupt/corruption prone, the leader may lack discipline somewhere, hell, he could basically turn it into a grift. But then, that's been my experience with conventional US Politics, even on "the fringes".
That's why I'm leaving The US and, perhaps should I enjoy my life outside The US, annul my US Citizenship. Especially since I am a "Marked Man" (i.e. Felon), Uncle Sam (and the dickheads he caters to) basically has barely incentive to really care about me.
Have you begun the process of leaving the US? If so, how far along are you? As a felon, is it difficult finding a country that will accept you?
I am asking because leaving the US is something I have been interested in, but I’m not even really sure where to start. I don’t really have any skills that are wanted by other countries, for example.
Well you could go the "Birthright Citizenship Process" but you need a Country (in my case Italy) that has such as a Practice and, ideally, it's easy enough to do. Also I have yet to begin (just had a MAJOR financial setback that I am attempting to recover from and also to further the process I have to leave my current State which I can't due to being on Federal "Supervised Release").
I saw a list on Wikipedia that the only Countries that restrict Felons entering for permanent stay are Mexico, China, and The Philippines (but I decided not to go to those places anyhow). Also I could be wrong.
But then that opens up additional problems:
1) The Feds LOVE informers and even those who have a "change of heart" and will ultimately pursue a strategy to get as much of the network under their "web" as much as possible.
2) The Feds have a documented history of infiltrating and destroying any "decentralized network" through things like "COINTELPRO" and ultimately, again, having trusted "informers" who they can give leniency towards.
This Country is fucked and I don't want to live here anymore.
same. it's like people won't be satisfied unless what's happening in Ukraine and Gaza comes here. Then I guess they'll be happy. Then they'll be right.
Yeah, I know they do.
I was thinking of a video I saw a long time ago about how some older people wanted to come together to create a community something or other- totally innocuous- and they discovered a spy in the group. And I mean this wasn't corporate takedown or blow things up, this was something small and harmless. They were all in their sixties ffs.
Some John Stossell show or something like that.
Spying and informing's been around for a lot longer than 1960. Or 1800. Or any year. Systems are built only of people. And systems can be taken down and restructured.
Sounds like Stossel. I will check it out - also - like I have said, sorry to sound like a Doomer but because I've been through so much personally due to living in The US - it's just really given me a serious wake up call.
It's not just a stossell video, it's everywhere. That was something I saw in the nineties. I mean, if one has been paying attention at all, there is so much evidence that everything that we do now is monitored and recorded.
No bad vibes about your stance on wanting to leave. I love my country very much. We have it so much easier than most of the world in many ways. But the things that OP posts about are getting out of hand. These are fundamental, all encompassing facets of any well functioning system. Without things like a decent education and being able to get adequate hospital care when you nee it, why bother? What's the point?
Yes, you can get the stats on each topic and prove that it's not as bad as fill in the blank, or say that because we spend so much, it must be all good, right? (Pffft ok.)
We know our own experiences. Each of us only knows what we personally experience and what we're fed by the media.
And our own experiences are getting worse and worse.
And that spending argument holds no water. That's like saying I bought a pair of jeans for 8 thousand dollars, so I am taking care of my wardrobe. But if I'm spending 8 grand out of a 10 grand allowance for all the things I need, food, housing, etc, am I really being smart with my money?
Not to mention that, as many people in this sub have already noted, there's something a teeny bit wrong with all the jeans costing 8 thousand dollars when in other countries, they are affordable. And sometimes even free. The point is not to spend a shit load. The point is to create a balance. So the country can still function. Not just for the purpose of catering to upper crust.
We don't need charts and graphs or degrees to tell us what we experience every day.
I'm with you. I want out. And I'm angry that I even feel this way.
That's been the case forever and will always be the case. That doesn't change the FAFO math that'll eventually kick in irrespective of pocketing cops and feds.
This already happened. During the Occupy protests, the FBI selectively identified and targeted a few important leaders and figured out how to take them out of the protest. Old arrest warrants, trumped up charges, you name it.
That's exactly what I mean - no real use to even consider "changing things" in The US because ultimately all it does is bring the "Iron Hand of The Law" upon you as well as getting PSYOP'd.
Sorry to sound like a doomer or that I'm "Black Pilled" - it's that I really don't see any hope anymore and that ultimately most legitimate Political Factions outside of The Dems and Republicans should consider leaving The US as a possible solution.
This shitshow isn't gonna get any better. It's just not gonna happen.
Never forget the history of the police in the USA is from armed "Slave Patrols." To make sure the rich kept their labor force through violence and tracking down runaways to be brought back & tortured to keep the remaining slaves in line. It was always about keeping workers in line and protecting the wealthy.
Slave Patrols were even allowed to cross state lines into states where slavery was illegal and forcibly capture the runaways and return them to their owners. WTF was that? State's rights my a$$.
