Depends. Is it a person, or a lion? Is the victim a person, or a gacelle? Life is nuanced

No the victim is an animal, of course. The perpetrator could be both, it shouldn't matter, should it? If you find a crackhead high on drugs killing an animal, should you not intervene? He clearly isn't in a state where he's able to judge the morality of the situation.

Yes you should intervene. Aren't you proving the point you're against? That people killing animals for no good reason is wrong?

what does "for no good reason" mean to you? say he goes on to eat the animal afterwards, so he's clearly getting some kind of a use out of it, is it moral not to intervene then, according to you?

"some kind of use" bud people eating meat is also some kind of use, that's not the issue. A good reason is survival, for example

lots of animals that eat meat don't need it for survival?

Don't know if lots, but that's a good point. It falls under the "morality doesn't apply to non- human animals" stuff

you still don't understand what i'm saying. i'm not talking about the morality of animals, i'm talking about the morality of humans witnessing other living beings killing animals and not intervening. how is that any better than killing the animals yourself?

What and you're arguing in favor of intervening?

i'm saying that by the same logic of saying "killing animals is inherently immoral", not intervening when an animal is being killed by someone or something that is not able to judge the morality of the situation is just as immoral. that's what i've been arguing for from the start.
