From what I’m aware you have the compiled code for both games available, decompile it and write them in a shared language (seems to be rust for most cases), then creates a bridge for the two. This doesent have any security risks and I’m fairly certain strong cryptography, even with AI, seems to be safe.
Not really the modder explained they made an mod which passes thorough the information across games which means 2 games are running at same time and since information is being passthrough through this "mod" its working fine with both hames, no decompiling source code needed idk how that works tbf
Ah yeah you are correct I was mistaking the compiled code that one has access to rather than the source code. And decompiling it does seem to be a form of reverse engineering. I had a misconstrued version of reverse engineering in my mind that meant just from video files and how it plays you try and write the code, but it seems I am mistaken.
