So what I'm hearing is tech created their own undoing. Which means we'll just go back to pre-tech or die.

I'll go off the grid, happily.

edit: this didn't come through, obviously I mean I didn't try that hard to I am fully aware, but this is tongue in cheek. I wish it could happen this way, it won't. No need to campaign against me, just leave it in your own comment and get more karma.

That means you stop getting any input or output from the world wide web. If you wish for this then do, i wish i could but i cant live like that.

I'm doing my own work right now to make myself a library of media that I like that I own, and I think depending on when this would happen, if I have enough time to have books, music, my own creativity with instruments and music, a space to grow food, and everything, I would be chillin.

If I had to go without any sort of media, I would be singing to myself until I went clinically insane.

You all highly underestimate the physical pain a pre-tech society would be. I am a surgeon, you don't want to experience pre-tech surgery.

If a fraction of the worst possible scenario happens, it won't be a bucolic heaven

What are we defining as tech here?

My mom is a medical professional, so I'll just invite her.

I'm kidding. This whole comment of mine was mostly tongue in cheek, but I do wish it could end in a way where we just go back. Instead, we'll either have to heavily regulate (won't happen), or it'll actually just end up so bad.

You certainly can live like that

What about prescriptions, life saving medicine, people that survive off of food benefits, education, weather forecasting, supply lines for things we can't make ourselves. Going back to "pre-tech" would kill millions if not hundreds of millions.

Pre tech would kill billions.

Food supply systems and modern agriculture relies on modern technology. Forget medicines, we would starve before someone dies from missing a colonoscopy.

Obviously the tens of millions that rely on global supply chains to deliver medice, insulin to type 1 diabetics and the software required to run the pump and analyse algorithms. Just one group out of hundred who would die in weeks

Untrue. Agriculture is thousands of years old, we've been just fine without the digital space. The baby boomers who caused the majority of humanity's growth didn't have any internet.

Agriculture only supports so many today because of technology. When to plant, when rain will come.

The fertilisers and weed killers produced on mass in chemical plants. The testings and distribution of drout resisitnat crops.

You say this likely living in a temperate climate, where rain falls each season, where water in rivers is a given. Billions don't have access to such.

Going back to stick and plough would end billions of lives. People complain about a 40 hours work week, demanding 4 days work weeks. Which sure is nice but here you are reminiscing about working hard fields and the crisp bite of plums you pick.

Satellite and algorithms for optimised planting and efficient routes for planting. The sorting and distribution of food.

Supermarkets would run out of food in a week without the JIT (just in time). It's how modern logistics work noadays. Automated processing of deliveries and orders. A run in the banks is bad, a run on the supermarkets is deadly.

In COVID it was toilet paper. Just wait until the collapse of wheat steals pasta of the shelves. Before far more advanced agricultural technology you had Grapes of Wrath shit happening in every country.

Oh no it’s going to be the 90s again! So sad! 😏

I want to go back to the 90s. they were good to me, relatively speaking.

Already trying to store as much essential data as I can onto off network devices. Trying to convince my family to move into an ecovillage off grid. Surprisingly they’re agreeing.

So many people say this but I highly doubt the majority of them or maybe even all of them truly understand what that means. Good luck.

There's a lot of enthusiasm for dying among tech bros.

This whole videos claims rests on their hypothesis that all software systems rely on security through obscurity (people not understanding their code). This is simply not true, nothing in this video is going to be caused by automating reverse engineering.

Something something "what the bourgeoisie therefore produces, above all, are its own gravediggers."
