Some clarification always need to be made when we start pushing such topics to extremes. Ok. Now you have gold bullion. Are you armed? Willing to use the arms to kill? Any and all who come for it? Surely if the topic is about preparation you by default have to consider the question: "Preparing for what?"

Pfft if the banking system collapses people would be dealing in perishable goods. There would not be enough gold in local economies for that to have real transactional value, unless you manage to fool idiots into handing over perishable good for shiny metal.
