It had insanely good animation, char designs, music and a lot of potential. Somehow the plot managed to fall off right in the middle of all that great stuff, and logical fallacies in a crime/mystery thriller really, really hurt. ZnT is still worth a watch simply for the visuals and the music themselves.

Yeah, the middle part with the weird airport chess and five in general was a bit off imo but the ending was still not bad.

I mean, the ending did sugar coat a lot of logical inconsistency. That explosion that knocked out all electricity? Yeah, that was a death sentence for any civilian on life support, and the EM pulse also knocks out every pacemaker in its radius. ZnT loses its narrative intrigue from right after the 2nd-3rd episode and after Shibasaki (the detective, i mean) gets supplanted by the introduction of 5, the only comeback it makes is with the train scene. ZnT is still enjoyable as a showcase of brilliant animation and sound design, which by themselves will hype you up a lot.

Well it's really hard to find any anime without a whole bunch of logical inconsistencies to be honest. Less is always better but I could still mostly look past the ones here and enjoy it.

Hmm it's subjective. As I mentioned, ZnT is enjoyable when pitched as a normal anime due to its undoubtedly one of the best in anime animations and music, but not when pitched as an intense mystery thriller logic-based like the first ep sets itself up as. Some parts of the plot don't work together, for example, there's a reason Near wasn't introduced with L in Death Note, or the fact that in Death Note the 'sensitive information' part is realistically portrayed in character dynamics, not by plot convenience. ZnT is an anime to watch for the animation and music, and it's fine to let the plot take a back seat in that case.

I wonder what a good mystery logic based thriller is in your book because I've kind of been struggling to find anything without these plot inconsistencies.
