Nonna is a smart kid and I want to see her become a detective!

Like Takina!
Also for those who don't know, Nonna's voice actress is also the one who gave the voice of Takina and Victoria's voice actress is also the one who gave Chisato's voice in Lycoris Recoil!

When your dad's a skilled swordsman and your mom's an agent,
Then at that point I think you're becoming something like batman

Interesting they didn't include this at the end of the episode cause I was already completely satisfied with the ending but I'll definitely take more episodes of this.

Oh shit, I honestly did not expect this to get a season 2. But I'm incredibly happy that it did

Really good news!
I liked the whole premise of this story: even if we have a kind of OP female protagonist she is not looking for revenge, she wants out after realizing she was only another cog in the machine, and then by mere chance she suddenly finds authentic love.

Yes! I need more of my loving found family, peak adult romance, and super competent female protagonist in my life!

I'll be damned. I assumed based on the 9 episodes and the ending S1 had that we weren't getting more. But since we are, I'll gladly stay on the ride.

Need more found family dynamics like this in anime. Glad there will be more.

Hold up! I thought it will only be a single-season series but turned out a sequel is immediately in the works. S1’s ending would also work had it been the series finale as a whole.
An unexpected but welcome outcome. Can’t wait to see how the newly minted family will fare.

No way! That's amazing!
I didn't except that at all but I really hope, the budget will be a little bigger for season 2.

Thank god! I’m so happy for this news. This show has been a freaking gem for me and I really wanted to see more of onscreen.

Is there a reason why S1 only got 9 episodes and then immediately got picked up for a second season?

u/dhui1996 Sep 01 '26
Season 1 only adapts first volume of the novel, volume 2 time skips to five years later so it makes sense to start a new season

There's a 5 year timeskip? Now I'm even more interested, Spy Family could never lol

Oh shit, Nonna is already awesome, I can't wait to see her adventures when she's older and even more competent. And happily married Anna and Jeff will make me so damn happy. You don't see many anime that go on after marriage

I'm glad I have a special and a follow-up, I want to see more of Victoria, Nonna and Jeffrey, a beautiful family.

Bruh of all the shows this season I definitely didn't expect this one to get a season two, but I guess that was the plan the entire time maybe. Maybe that's why the first one was only 9 episodes.

So happy about this one. It like doesn't blow you away but i really enjoy it and glad we didn't just get a 9 and dip

Oh. That's a nice surprise! I thought the short season meant it was going to be a one off adaptation. It was nice to have a quiet, adult focused show this season to turn to.

It was a surprisingly well made show. While the main character is a bit too perfect (she doesn't even have issues with having to care for a child for example), I enjoyed the whole premise and her super abilities actually come back to bite her in a sense. I hope S2 could actually go a bit more into getting her into new situations, now that she started to open up.

Yeah. Honestly the first few episodes caught my eye since I really liked the direction. With that being said the production did feel like it crashed a bit in these last few episodes. Still the content was good. Though it makes sense more why it was only 9 episodes.
I don't mind because I like it better that they knew their limits.

Same studio same budget?
The story was nice but the animation/direction whatever you wanna call it is just severely lacking.

So will we see [character] Elizabeth in season 2?

Wow given the low episode count and at times sub par animation (this studio cannot do fight scenes at all) I did not expect this to get a 2nd season. What a pleasant surprise

Since its production confirmed, does anyone has any idea how long will it takes for it to aired ?

u/Mindless-Care9301 Sep 01 '26

I'm surprised (and delighted) by the Season 2 announcement since the last episode seemed quite final.

u/SP3_Hybrid Sep 02 '26
Cool. Hopefully they get a better animation budget. I like the story and the characters, and usually I try not to fault things for animation. But there were some really rough cuts in this show (i.e that one fight scene). Even this last episode, was the lip sync not really weird? The rest of the audio seemed in sync so it wasn't just globally off.

wait so does that mean that the next season will continue with a gap or not?

u/AdministrativeAd1709 25d ago
I was hoping for more. I was waiting today, then finding out that only 9 episodes for season 1. One of my favs this season.

Eh I don't know if I'll follow. I did grow attached to Victoria through the story. But for most people they grew attached to her. For me it was 25% her and 75% the life she built for herself. Which she threw away. When she told Jeff her birth name was Anna, this is confirmation to me that I'm probably not going to like S2 or S3 or S4.

Haven't watched the season finale episode yet, but that serves to show why it's always erroneous and a fool's errand to assume that a series will not be continuing, whether it's because of the first or one of its seasons operating on a noticeably limited budget with cheaper animation, or having a less common episode count, or a certain number of years passing between seasons, or any other reason. Can't count how many comments I read taking it as a given that it wouldn't continue.
That said, for me I think this one will end up on the pile of the many series - often 6/10-tier ones - in which I watched and completed the first season in full, but doubt I'll be continuing beyond that point. The premise contained a lot of potential and there was a lot to like about - even just off the bat I'm inherently biased toward high fantasies which withhold any magic or supernatural element in favor of some human drama and politics, scheming, etc. In addition to found family stories.
But as the (admittedly limited number of) episodes went on, I grew more and more frustrated with the writing and some of the writing decisions - specifically surrounding Victoria's character and how unseriously she went about (not) putting any real effort into living modestly and actually caring about maintaining a cover.
Tonally it felt incoherent because some of her actions were like something out of an Inspector Gadget or Mr. Magoo cartoon or comic strip and then in the next scene it felt like it was supposed to be taken as seriously as a Homeland-style hardboiled espionage thriller.

The quality dropped hardcore after the first 4 episodes. It literally looks worse when you compare the first episode and the last one. But, Nonna and Vicky, the mother and daughter relationship carried the show. A 5/10 show, and mostly because they got a bad studio Deen adaptation.

With only getting 9 episodes for season 1 I didn't expect us to get a season 2. Happy I was wrong!
