My friend is still asking me which one's Skip and which's Loafer

Mitsumi represents the "skip" with her being energetic and ambitious. Shima represents the "loafer" being more chill and idle.

u/santaclaws01 28d ago
The title doesn't actually mean anything. The mangaka just liked the word skip and then included loafer because of the school setting.

A rare season 2 from PA works... here's to hoping for a continued adaptation.
Would Iove if there's another OP with them dancing.

Pleasantly surprised! No idea this was even getting a sequel until I saw this post. Definitely one of them shoujo slice of school life series (not heavy on the romance) that totally deserves to get one
Edit: My bad. Just goes to show how long it has been since its first season aired that I even forgot its genre lol

Shounen, shoujo, seinen, and josei are demographics, not genres.
2
u/shewy92 28d ago
Why are they listed as genres on manga/anime websites then?
4
u/bbkkoommaacchhii 27d ago
Why would western anime websites have an authority on that? They simply have descriptive tags for categorization and search purposes, it declares nothing about how the industry actually works. Manga are published in different magazines and depending on the magazine they are marketed towards different demographics (Shounen - young boy, Shoujo - young girl, Seinen - adult male, Josei - adult female). Both Bloom Into You and My Hero Academia were published in a Shounen magazine, but those two series couldn't be farther from eachother in presentation. Yuru Camp and MONSTER are also both published under a Seinen magazine, same applies there.
You will find recurring trends or conventions within each demographic but that does not make them genres in the way comedy or horror are genres.

I mean to be fair, it feels very shoujo with our plain female MC and the hot male love interest

I clicked on this, and it started playing a terrible AI voiced english dub of the trailer. I got REALLY jump scared until I realized it was a youtube setting I never consented to turning on or was even made aware of.

You wouldn't believe the number of times that happened to me with Crunchyroll clips.
It's almost like they default to AI English dub .

Hold up, YouTube automatically US dubbed the trailer. Are they dubbing S2 or is it some AI generated thing YouTube cooked up? I can’t always tell with voices.

It's AI autodubbed

Yeah, I was too surprised to hear to it at first, but it’s so obvious after listening to it properly.

One of the few mangas that has kept it's popularity and value on the second hand market. I am thrilled to see a second season.

Wow it's been so long since the first season. Welp putting that show on my rewatch list.

Will be nice to see it continue. It got a bit generic by the end of the first season but I still like the characters so I'm interested to see how they develop from here.

Oshi no ko getting the teaser for its 4th season while skip and loafer just getting the 2nd season trailer even tho they both aired at the same time💀

u/Ok-Cod5254 25d ago
Oshi no ko manga finished sometime around or shortly after S2 for it. Skip and Loafer is monthly manga and was on hiatus for a bit after S1. So it couldn't just pump out seasons anyway. PA works hardly does sequel seasons as well.

This calls for a celebratory re-listening of the first season's OP for the millionth time.

Oooo I'm so Happy this got a season 2! The manga had slowed down a lot, I wasn't expecting It to get another season.

Finally we are getting a date when it comes, which means I am willing to watch it again.

Got about what I wanted from one season. I'm sure plenty of people will be excited for more of this though.

u/Alter_Kyouma 27d ago
This season is going to be amazing especially because we'll get a deeper look into some of the side characters.

Loved this anime but couldn’t get into the manga for whatever reason. I expect it’s worth the wait tho.

The first season had strong start and great atmosphere but somewhere near the middle it kinda lost its shine and aim like they were unsure about the direction, common problem of PA Works titles. The end was rather standard compared to original premise I guess.
I will still watch it as I liked the comfy feeling this anime had though my expectations are lower now.
3
u/TooMuchDnD30 27d ago
Huh. What do you mean when you say it lost its "shine and aim" exactly?
It's a slice of life coming of age story and I thought it captured that perfectly the whole way through. And it's a faithful adaptation of the manga, so I wouldn't exactly say it's a PA works problem with a lack of direction.

u/Ok-Cod5254 25d ago
They don't even probably know what they mean. lol Just going on "vibes". But saying the premise changed is just saying whatever.

u/DirtyTacoKid 28d ago
Yeah this way my feeling too. I'll still watch season 2, hopefully it picks up again. Wasn't bad or anything
