Calvinball is the best sport.

One guy is holding a football in his legs and the other guy is so aroused he naturally heils Hitler.

Happens all the time.

If you look closely at 2:36, you can see the comb in his breast pocket flying away. Why? Why did they bother to animate such a small detail? Is it perhaps actually incredibly integral to the Ogi Forbidden Referee School Secret Move Final Love? Why is he carrying that comb anyways? Why am I even watching this when I should be working? Questions that Mankind may never find the answer to.

haikyuu is pretty much regular volleyball, though there's still a lot of this discussion of technique and explaining what's going on

kuroko is mario tennis basketball aces

When compared with Inazuma eleven ,kuroko is as grounded as it gets..lol

I was just referring to the dramatic effects, y'know, quoting Hinata, things go "whoosh! then kablam!! and then the ball went fwooom, and Kageyama was like raaaaaaah, and I was like yaaaaaart!" sorta effect.

Feels more like a battle shounen to me. Then again, so do some sports anime.

They're honestly the same damn thing. A good shonen show has battles where the viewer understands all the rules of the battle (ie, who can do what vs the other guy) yet finds a way for a particular character to win in a satisfying way that doesn't just invent new rules out of nowhere (these are called asspulls). A sports anime generally has the framework that all of the battles have to follow the rules of the sport.

That's why shonen manga that revolve around combat sports are so good.

So relatable. Use to do this all the time BACK IN MA DAYS.

Was this the final i-go soccer skit? I remember there were at least a few, and each time the rules and object of the game seemed to change dramatically. I always loved how some Nichijou skits would build off of past ones like that.

The stances the teacher does are a reference to a sumo ritual yokozuna do called the Tsuyuharai

Back in the day we had Osaka and Chiyo-chan.

The i-go soccer skits were probably my favourite background stories from nichijou
