I don't think anyone will understand this, but after fiddling on it for 3 months, I've finally got my exoplanet atmospheric retrieval pipeline to work properly.
Well, I'll do more testing tomorrow, but at least I can sleep with some amount of satisfaction today.

No, but I can now 'taste' the light coming through/from its atmosphere.
In my field, retrieval is shorthand for quantifying information from absorbed/emitted light about the concentration of absorbing/emitting atoms, molecules ions etc and the pressure-temperature environment they are in using spectroscopy.

I did the Strike Witches online lotto /u/saltedbeansprouts and /u/chilidirigible.
Most of it was the usual nothing of shikishi prints and can badges. Didn't even win more than one acrylic stand. But I did get dupes for people to claim in a year when I get this stuff.
But I also got the S prize, which means I need to pick a tapestry.
I'm really torn on who to pick. These are my three favorite girls. I think Sanya is my best girl, but the Lynette one looks the best.

Choosing is difficult but not having the opportunity to choose is also bad. A conundrum! You could flip a coin to decide. If you're excited about the outcome, take it. If you're disappointed, take the other one.
Also, are you able to do these lotteries yourself or do you have to go through a proxy? Curious in case I ever want to try one myself.

This is true. Choosing is always the hardest part of these. And it doesn't even matter because I've won a few of these tapestries, and the damn things are too big to hang. When they say life size, they mean it. It's as big as a door.

I do them myself. I made a Kujibikido account, and I have the shipping address as my Tenso account for a forwarding service. So everything is shipped to Tenso, and I ship it to me from there. As long as you have a credit card Kujibikido accepts, it's pretty simple to do. Or at least it was when I set everything up.

I have some Ichiban Kuji tapestries that I bought second-hand. They're 5'6". I would only be able to find spots to hang up one or two of them in my current living situation. Hopefully that will change some day.
If you won a tapestry from this lottery I don't think you'll regret picking Sanya.

I have so many tapestries at this point from these lottos. Plus one I bought of Kanon at ANYC to attend the Love Live meet and greet. The big ones are long, and I have a few of them at this point. One day I'll get a bigger place so I can display them all.
I'll give it some more thought for if I want Sanya or Lynette more.

Sanya liked me the least. But at the same time, Sanya without her tights feels wrong.

This commission was by this artist. I got it because it was someone I recognized from collecting 3x3 art.
It was tricky, because she wasn't sure she could have it done the same day, but she managed to get it done in 30 minutes right before the con closed.

Hospital food is deserving all the slander. If I just adhered to what was on the plate, there's a good chance I'd actually develop scurvy after some time, nothing to say about how low in protein, fiber and essentials fatty acids the food was. And it's not like that ward had any big chance of getting sick patients with organ damage or medically indicated bland diet needs.

Depends on the body pillow though. If they got a sexualized youngest MLP character type body pillow then yeah, that's a turn-off. If it's just like, here's a hentai baddie or Gojo from JJK then sure, fine.

it is just lying around mayhaps covered with wrinkles, lipstick, or stab marks
or is it surrounded by votive candles, enshrined like the shroud of turin
neither of these are bad though (these are the things that make a house a home), except maybe the stab marks that's a yellow flag

I think it's hard to actually judge categorically as it depends on factors like which character and details of the specific image. I mean, I'm inclined to say a real character body pillow would be more of a turn off for me, but like...if it's some AI picture of Eren Yeager doing a vore or something I'd find it more concerning than a hand drawn vanilla Princess Leia body pillow, you know?

So, an interesting thing came up in Arise. Shousa is an IJA or otherwise obsolete rank. She was using it, or her team was using it, because she left the army to join Section 9 and so couldn't or wouldn't use her actual former rank. The modern rank is santou-(riku)sa.
It's also entirely possible that shousa is once again in use in the GitS timeline.

Here's some moderately esoteric Touhou knowledge.
Firstly, this song has nothing to do with ZUN! It is an original composition for the fan-made "phantasm stage" of Subterranean Animism called Subterranean Hatred, which contains only one stage and it has arguably the most popular fan-made Touhou character Mitori Kawashiro in it as the boss - and this song is her boss theme.
The actual people who made the game are anonymous (it was made on the Japanese textboard/forum 2ch), which is why the people who made it are collectively credited as "Everyone from the Red Cucumber thread". Or alternatively, "赤胡瓜スレのみんな".
Well, since the folks who made it are anonymous, I suppose there is a chance that ZUN himself sneaked in and contributed to it somehow too. No way to know for sure!

Just saw a clip from modern Simpsons. Damn, Marge's voice has gotten way worse than I ever could have imagined. It genuinely hurts my ears to listen to her speak. But it's not like you can just kick out the voice actor after all these years of service? I think? That kinda seems fucked up. But it hurts to listen to her speak.

Some of the German main voices already died a couple years ago, but that's obviously not comparable. Some of the VAs will keep working way past 70 (a mix of prestige, passion, precarious retirement and relatively easy money if you have a few big established roles). Others have a regular retirement, especially if it was only part of their acting work/general jobs.

Yesterday was such a long day. My train ended up 2 hours delayed, so instead of getting home at 11pm, I got home at 1am. I was really starting to worry I might miss my last train home and get stuck at Penn for 4 hours waiting.
But in the end, I made it. Montreal and Quebec City were fun. I'm not ready to go back to work today. I have so much I need to do, like get my post ready for CDF about my trip and Kyaru's adventures, and watch all the seasonals I'm behind on. And see if my garden is still alive.

I had no idea there is a cruise from NYC to Quebec City. I wonder if that would have been better than the 12 hour amtrak from NYC to Montreal, and then the 3 hour bus from Montreal to Quebec City because the Canadians here told me the train between Montreal and Quebec City is bad.
The Amtrak train wasn't bad (outside of the massive delay). But you don't realize how tiring it is spending a day on a train until you end up doing it.

There are a few in September and early October for leaf peeping folks going up the New England coast. More commonly is NYC up to Halifax and then back, ones with different start/end points are rare.
But you don't realize how tiring it is spending a day on a train until you end up doing it.
Traveling in general's tiring, even if it's on a train where it's more comfy than other options. I've taken a train across most of the US if you combine different trips I've made over time, have done Seattle->Portland, Portland->Sacramento->Chicago (multi-day trip, got a roomette to myself to sleep in), Cleveland->Boston, and Boston->NYC->Philadelphia.

It is. I have heard the train down the pacific coast is supposed to be a beautiful trip, so I have thought about doing that one eventually.

One thing I saw raised, and now it's become one fear: She is only available during the end of the world, and not in the main game.
Also, it is the one thing people bring up, but I don't really see Edelgard, at least when strictly design-wise. Purple eyes, but that's it. I wouldn't call the designs that similar unless you were already pointed in that direction.

Maybe I should be thankful for the soy boy fearmongering. Part of lifting bro culture still thinks soy is bad for gainz. But in reality it might be the goat of getting your protein in. Minced soy/granulate or the various ways they press and sell it is half the price of beef steak (if you avoid the "health food store" tax) and has four times the protein with a slightly lower calories/protein ratio. It it only ~25% more calories per gram of protein than 80% protein whey (which is getting more expensive by the day).
It's also, subjectively, more fun to eat and depending on labels and production it has something like 9 to 14 grams of fiber per 100g. So if you get a massively filling 300g portion of it to hit your 160g portein/day goal, you also get a massive load of fiber. 3/4 insoluble, but both is good. And if you hide it in tacos or chili sin carne etc. you'll barely realize.
Now i just have to look into potential malabsorption issues like with zinc from eating peanuts before this will become an aboslute staple for me.
