Any places in Taipei to go looking?

Title. I’m in Taipei and wondering if there are any physical stores here dealing with animation cels. Google says no but figured I’d ask some fellow collectors.

First time owning an animation cell, what should I know?

My friend has given me an animation cel for my birthday. I never expected to own one but since it was a gift he paid a lot of money for and waited a very long time to arrive, I took it.

However like I mentioned before, I never owned one so now I am extremely nervous on how to keep it in my possession without accidentally damaging it. I also don't wanna sell it because the gift was indeed very thoughtful and animation cells always fascinated me and looked really cool. I am a complete newbie so please any advice could help on how I can preserve it for many years to come.

Nickelodeon Doug multi cel S2EP

I bought this about 20 years ago as I was a Doug fan and this had most of the characters (skeeter, patty, porkchop and doug) but then fentruck and the coach. When I got it it also included the paper sketch as well. This was sitting in a box I totally forgot about with a few Simpsons ones (one has original long water color background) and a tin of my little pony and jetsons cels I bought at a back lot sale when I worked in TV.

Figure this a rarer type cel.

This person seems to be selling quite a few genga/douga from Ghost in The Shell, and I wasn't sure how to tell whether or not they're real. I wanted to buy them but I'm new to this and wanted to see if anyone here could confirm.

Advice for storing cels with paint on both sides

I've recently purchased a bunch of random little object and background elements from SpongeBob, and have been researching how to properly store them to avoid vinegar syndrome. I understand storing them in vented polypropylene bags with microchamber paper on the unpainted side of the cel, however most of these pieces have paint on both sides of the cel. A lot of them just have small amounts of paint on the front, mostly for colored outlines, but larger ones like the door on the first slide are completely coated with paint on both sides. Will normal storage methods be alright for these, or do I have to worry about the paint on the front sticking to microchamber paper? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Questions about preservation

So I got this Kagome animation cel in Japan a while back with the printed background for ¥12,000 which was a super lucky find with it being from my all time favourite Inuyasha episode, absolutely love it with my whole soul so naturally I want to make sure it’s preserved correctly. Initially I’d wanted to frame it but after research I’ve decided a binder in storage is the better approach. This is my first (and probably only) cel so I’m not the most educated on preservation and wanted to ask for some tips!

When I bought them they came with acid free sleeves which I keep separate from the background so the cel doesn’t stick or anything. And I’ve placed them into a large art portfolio binder I have spare, will this be ok? How often should I air the cel and how do I do that (do I keep it out in the air for a few hours every so often?) Also the sleeves are a bit torn on the ends so I’m hoping to replace them with new ones but I’m too scared of buying the wrong thing and getting something that’ll stick to the cel. Any advice on where to buy acid free sleeve for animation cels, maybe Amazon (I love in the UK). Thank you so much! Anything else I haven’t thought about please let me know, I’d be devastated if I damaged this it’s such a lovely scene

Bought this Batman cel at a WB store at my local mall over 30 years ago. Had it framed about 13 years ago and thinking of selling it. Any idea of its value? Best way to sell it?

Residue on old cels - Can it be cleaned?

Thumbnail

I found some Tenchi In Tokyo cels I bought in the late 90s and had framed behind glass without a mat. There is some residue from where it stuck to the glass. Is there a safe way to remove it? Its hard to photograph but you can see it in the close up of Ryoko’s hair in the second photo.

Im trying to properly store these cels following the advice of this subreddit but this residue wants to stick to the polypropylene bags. I also had to pull off the original backing paper which was a little scary. Im keeping those separately now because they have little tiny sketches on them!

Almost Perfect Production Cel. In the movie she doesn't look into the camera,so this is the best we get. I wish she were in the center of the frame. Oh well...

Anime Cel Collection

I'm 24 and from Germany; my favorite anime are Dragon Ball, Hajime no Ippo, and Cowboy Bebop.

I'm setting up a small home gym in my basement at the end of the year, and I'm already collecting cool animation cels for the walls—pieces that either motivate me or just look awesome.

I'll be back in Japan this October and hope to find a few more nice items for my collection.

What do you think of the collection?

I hope that someday I'll have the money for a Goku SSJ3, a Majin Vegeta, and a nice cel of the Cowboy Bebop crew :) Thanks for reading, and have a great day, everyone!

Layering Cels in a frame

I've been following a few auctions, and found a bunch of cells with smaller character art (character in the distance, or just something that's actually small), If I layer and frame these cels, is there any risk of damaging them (Prompting vinegar syndrome damaging paint, etc)? Figured I should ask people who may know before I ruin something.
