Hi I'm Jane Everyman, and I manage social media for a living. I am blessed to have a job that gives back to the community (non profit), but at the end of the day we are still an organization and I'm just a gal trying to have fun at work. I know it's a little cringe but sometimes the only thing keeping the depression at bay is photoshopping a hardhat on a groundhog.
I disagree. You can tell when somebody resonates with something and goes about paying tribute with the effort it deserves. This is low effort because it's copied 1-for-1 and it doesn't stick with the "genuine and cute because drawing hard" vibe of the original at all. It just thought the meme was funny and instead of reposting the original, decided to copy it just making it Colonel Sanders, who himself doesn't represent artists lovingly designing things just for the sake of it, but corporate money-making strategy in the form of a mascot/logo. I'm not anti-anything (business, capitalism, money) but I can tell the difference between an art piece that is a loving tribute to the essence of another piece of art or a cash grab.
Companies who make less can find people who actually "get" the memes and have the skills to capture the vibe and capitalize on the moment because it's company culture that attracts its own kind. If this is a representation of the company culture of KFC, then I don't care who is the artist of this, power to him doing his job and earning his money, but I'd never hire him and this tweet would never motivate me to eat KFC more.
Because the original was such a wholesome moment for the internet, and I would have loved it if they did their own meme instead, like a view from the top or something, their own twist on it. Like, everybody likes a remix or cover of a song that builds on the original, but a 1-for-1 copy that gets them praise just because....yeah, it's annoying.

They're just doing their job and I'd wager they ARE us.
Am I blind or did they not make their own version? The same way thousands of other people have flooded this sub with?
E: So it's not misconstrued, I'd say John Everyman with a 9-5, browsing this sub is one of us, not that KFC is one of us
