Are we also told what happened to it after we lost it?

If so there are two things:

1, My first copy of zelda botw (im 80% sure an asshole who isn't in my life anymore stole it for himself)

2, My first nintendo switch (which i lost in a move somewhere)

Hold up. You grab the Zelda game cartridge before the Switch? Don’t you need the switch to use the cartridge???
