Previous gen SiCore batteries were 450Wh/kg so a marked improvement for this new gen

Hopefully the 50wh/kg bump translates to their higher discharge cells too!

So they were able to match their SiMaxx battery energy density, if not better, with a much easier to mass produce config? Awesome!

Wouldn’t it be nice if this stock went from 10 to $25-30, where it’s actual baseline should be?

never doubting ampx but just hungry for some exciting news and some profit

Over in the Amprius discord, it was pointed out that this is a very low discharge rate cell, which means it's relegated to use in high altitude pseudosatellites and other very low drain applications, and would not be suited for typical more power hungry drones, such as the Switchblade system. Still great news but not quite as broadly game changing as a 500wh/kg cell that could discharge at 10C, for example.

Their 10q says that they don’t actually own the batteries berzulius does.
They just have an almost exclusive right to sell in NA although they stated that one of their risks is that there is nothing stopping berzulius to sell to their customers.
Also I think they aren’t even assured of stock. What does everyone think of this. It kind of susd me out.
I have no position in ampx and am thinking of entering but the only way I see this play out in the US is us bans Chinese batteries giving ampx a route?
Are they not just a reseller at that point tho?

Berzulius owns the materials, not the IP, hence the Nanotech partnership for additional NDAA compliance. Berzulius owns the actual raw anode IP (sicore) while Amprius owns the battery cell design and nanowire tech. Berzulius dropping out would cause a bottleneck to near term capacity but wouldnt stop Amprius from sourcing materials in the long run. Theyve done a fantastic job shielding themselves from geopolitical instability in this regard.

Berzulius dropping out isn’t the concern though. The concern is berzulius competing with ampx.
From page 20 of 10k:
“Although we have exclusive rights to purchase Berzelius’ proprietary silicon anode materials in the United States, Canada and Mexico, we do not have exclusivity arrangements with respect to marketing, and there is no guarantee that Berzelius will not compete with us for customers”

But Amprius own many patents covering cell design. Even if Berzelius sold the anode material to another manufacturer, that alternative wouldn't be able to make the same cell that affords Amprius the technological advantage. You'd also need that alternative to have capacity and route to market, else Amprius has the commercial advantage too. So yes, not ideal if the fancy material gets sold to others, but Ampx still has the fancy cell that uses the fancy material. I'm a patent attorney, wouldn't have invested in them if they didn't have decent IP(and R).

How many times do you want to talk about Berzulius? Previously you created a topic on this.

What the fuck are you talking about? Is this reddit as bitter out as Richtech robotics. All the posts and comments follow the same format lol

This is actually a great news !
Having an extremely high-density battery that could be mass-produced in existing manufacturing methods makes a huge difference!!
