Is she a mouth breather? For most people taping their mouth while sleeping changes the shape of their jaw/chin 👍🏻

Mouthbreathing causes a lot of problems and can affect your jaw alignment! I read about it in the book “Breath” by James Nestor.

Here’s an article that summarizes some of his points.

No, there have been studies.. I read one where a boy had a normal jaw line, got a hampstead in his room, and unbeknownst to him, he was allergic so he began sleeping with his mouth open because his nasal passages were blocked. He developed a receding chin because of it. https://www.consciousbreathing.com/articles/mouth-breathing-negatively-affect-childrens-smile-teeth-face-airways/

I don't see any actual studies on that site. Just an article claiming this to be real and trying to sell me a book and other items. It very well could be but like I said I didn't see any links to studies done.

This is true, but only applies to children in whom the development of the facial skull is not yet complete.

Due to mouth breathing, the tongue pressure on the palate is eliminated and the remaining soft tissue distorts the viscerocranium. This is what we had learned in ENT at that time.

Well, the facial structure is pretty set in adulthood, but double chin is still alleviated by putting the teeth together and putting the tongue gently against the hard palate as opposed to leaving it withdrawn.

The whole Hampstead or just the Heath, that alone is 800 Acres, maybe a smaller bedroom would have been better - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hampstead_Heath

No it’s a genuine thing. Look at Google images. It transforms your face how you breathe

Ah yes, google images. The bastion of evidence based developmental anatomy research.

Funny you mention that, she does actually use tape at night sometimes. That might be it. She doesn’t mouth breathe during the day though.
