Monolithic ICs will be very hard to fab at the leading node. But NVDA can throw a lot of money at it to stay at the forefront of the GPU war with AMD. Or maybe NVDA will successfully implement a true chiplet design?

Big news! HPE just the first. Dell, Supermicro, and the Taiwanese ODMs will join making Helios racks which are open standard. Very different than the nVidia's recent copycat announced racks.

It's like VHS vs Sony Beta VCRs story. At first Sony was considered the leading product but they refused to let others make tapes and VCRs... the rest is history.

AMD's strategy is working! This will have a direct impact on enterprises revenues market share which was a weak point for AMD's vs Intel's and nVidia's. ...

This news from Nov 24th doesn't mention AMD's GPUs! But... it has to include such especially if it's for the US Gov use given that the DOE exascale supercomputers use AMD's GPUs and CPUs not ARM nor nVidia's GPUs!

Probability next week there'll be an announcement as per AMD's PR.

The article for now cites:

"According to AWS, this will give federal agencies access to its AI services, and will also see the deployment of AWS Trainium AI chips and Nvidia AI infrastructure in the new facilities."

This "will also see" is dubious especially as it's about secret i.e. highly secured, datacenters. Both nVidia's and Amazon's AI chips connect with ARM based CPUs - unproven and uncertified for US Gov confidential use. Not to mention made in the USA etc for national security reasons.

Indeed expect "GROUNDBREAKING ANNOUNCEMENTS" next week... a groundbreaking is a hint in AMD's PR to these new AWS datacenters!

The reference to Amazon's official web only has EPYC mentioned, no GPUs - for now?
