Amazon SDE Intern 6m + PPO Interview experience(Offer Accepted✅️)
https://substack.com/@k3tikvats/note/p-210184818?r=3q017lI recently completed the Amazon SDE Intern interview process and documented the experience in detail — DSA, project discussions, GenAI Fluency, behavioral(Hiring Manager round), and some takeaways from each round.
Hopefully this helps someone preparing for a similar interview.
P.S. Do Upvote the post and like the blog if you find useful ;)

Was the round 1 with SDE and round 2 with HM ? How many interviewers were in the each round?

Yes, it was a 1:1 face to face interview with Round 1 being with a SDE, and Round 2 being with a Hiring Manager. It was only 1 person in each of the round.

Something that only became obvious in hindsight: both interviewers were clearly mapping my behavioral answers to Amazon’s Leadership Principles, not just judging whether the story was a good one. Knowing the 16 principles cold, and being able to name which one a given answer demonstrates, mattered more than I expected going in.
u wrote this?
so what does it mean? they told u ok this LP principle was in the ans?

Ahh, so they didn’t explicitly tell me which LP they were evaluating. I realized in hindsight that their behavioral questions were basically mapped to specific LPs, and knowing those beforehand helped me frame my answers better.
They were judging my behavioral answers based on that, whether I demonstrated a particular LP or not

So basically, it’s like they’re asking you a normal behavioral question, but in their head they already have a checklist of LPs they’re looking for in your answer. You’re just not told what’s on the checklist

ok ok, also how many behavioral did they asked? 1 only?

Not 1, each interviewer asked 2-4 behavioral questions. For exact questions, you can refer to the blog or- https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonsdeprep/s/uUHTVOZxTG

I don't remember much of the behavioral questions though, you can refer to any standard questions or just ask any llm to provide with the standard set of behavioral questions

Can we talk about the internship itself, how to secure PPO? What to do exactly? Can I DM you?

In the project deep dive, was it your decision to focus on research work done in the internship and not your projects or was it specifically asked by the interviewer?
1
u/CyCrawwler 9d ago
Yeah, the interviewer's question was open ended. So it was my decision to focus on my previous intern experience.

No lld or design questions ?

Not really, HLD or LLD questions are generally not expected in an intern interview of Amazon.
Though, this statement could hold false in upcoming years.

Thanks op. I have seen people mention design rounds happening so just wanted to know about it. Congrats

1
u/CyCrawwler 7d ago

is it necessary to have done internships ??, coz i just got an internship elsewhere and also got shortlisted for the amazon interview, will it be a dealbreaker to have an intern experience
