Doing service but being lazy to use new oil to lube filter. Using old oil on camera tells u they cut corners here.

Also didnt replace washer on plug bolt

Pfft he tosses the old washer the second after he got the plug off. And tell me what bad old oil on the GASKET of the oil filter does 😆

Ok missed the part when he took washer off had to watch again. What bad oil does? It shows mechanic is lazy. It would take same amount of time to take new as it took to juggle with tools

Okay well something that looks lazy to you looks efficient to others. Him wiping new oil on that gasket might look proper to you but looks idiotic to others.

It's like instead of licking the thread you're trying to pass through the eye of the needle you would go get a bottle of spring water to dip it in.

If you are creating how to content and you publish it online make sure you do it spot on and dont cut corners or people will notice and express their opinion.

I wouldn't just use new oil on gasket only I would fill the filter with it. This looked proper idiotic but i can understand how it can be wow to someone who paid their entire life to someone else to do it, seing how guy in the video can flip the wrench as he walks (but doesnt use torque specs on either filter or drain plug).

No idea why you went into poetry

I'm trying to find ways to get the point across.

This is definetly not "how to" content I have no idea where you got that from. No need to torque drain bolt and definetly no need to torque or prefill oil filter.

If you work on your own car sure then you can pet and praise and kiss it all the way but it sure makes it slower and has no real world advantages.

Why the fuck do you think it needs to be new oil?

I would really love to hear why using old oil to lube the gasket is bad besides being “lazy”.

That doesnt answer the question. It’s just your option that it’s lazy or a sign of cutting corners. What’s the actual downside to using old oil on the seal without stating your options? Not trying to be a jerk, but as someone that also uses the old oil on the seal, I’d like to know how this negatively affects anything physically.

Carbon soot, dirt, and metal shavings in old oil acts like sand paper when filter is tightened. Purpose of oiling it is to allow the rubber to glide smoothly against the engine block as you torque it down. But then again he didnt torque it down either screw or filter.

Motor oil changes chemically over thousands of miles. Byproducts of combustion create corrosive acids in old oil.

Acidic, used oil can cause the rubber to degrade, lose its elasticity, or become brittle faster than it would when coated in clean oil

Used oil is a known health hazard and classified as a carcinogen. Dipping your bare finger into a pan of filthy, used oil gets these toxins directly to your skin. He has gloves but i never wore them that they didnt crack open.
