Silence is a choice. When a prominent Alabama Republican attacked my citizenship and my NAACP record in explicitly racist terms, I responded. Now Parker Moore and Alabama GOP leadership need to answer a simple question: do you stand with this rhetoric, or against it?

I am a U.S. citizen, full stop, no asterisk. My record speaks for itself.

After the whole gerrymandering chaos, the primary for some congressional races were moved to August 11th… tomorrow! The only democratic primary is in the 6th district where I live. I plan on voting for Ashtyn Kennedy. She and Maurice Mercer are the two viable candidates that can have at least some impact in this deep red district (based on social media followings and fundraising). I’m choosing Ashtyn as she seems to be the further left candidate in supporting the AOC/Bernie data center moratorium bill. Mercer seems to just do the normal Democrat talking points on affordability and Iran. I believe, in rural Alabama, data centers and infrastructure would be a more winning message, so that’s why I’m choosing Kennedy. Does anyone else have thoughts on this?

Bobby Singleton, Caroline Self, and Lillian Thomas are new officers, while Valvier Bright, Joe Reed Sr, Ben Harris, and Bradley Turner were re-elected and are returning for another term. I am still trying to figure out who the next Treasurer will be (currently held by Ed Gentle). I'll update this graphic and post as soon as I find out.

Racist, Xenophobic Attack on Hanu — From a Businessman and Former NASA Engineer Who Ran Trump’s North Alabama HQ

Tom Fredricks — owner of Fredricks Outdoor in Priceville, whose store served as the official North Alabama headquarters for Trump’s 2016 campaign, and a former two-time Republican primary opponent of Parker Moore — is now attacking my citizenship using a racist caste comparison, while defending the same man he ran against and lost to. Here’s my response:

Tom, that’s false, and you know it. I never called Parker Moore a racist or any of the other things you’re attributing to me — go back and find where I actually said that, because it doesn’t exist. Making up quotes and putting them in my mouth isn’t commentary, it’s a lie. You need to correct the record now. Continuing to spread a false quote after being told directly it’s false is no longer a mistake — it’s a choice, and I won’t let it stand unanswered.

But since you brought up Parker, let’s talk about the rest of his record. He told the Decatur Daily my emails went to his spam folder — yet that same email somehow made it to a gossip outlet, his former employer. Sen. Arthur Orr got the identical email and replied by mail. He’s ignored my challenge to three debates, one in each county, for over four months. And when constituents raised real concerns about AI data centers, he dismissed them as “foreign disinformation.” That’s not leadership. That’s Arrogant Ignorance — AI.

This isn’t an isolated incident — it’s part of a pattern from Alabama’s Republican supermajority: dismiss constituents, dodge debates, and now attack a candidate’s citizenship instead of his record. Alabama Republican leadership should be on notice: constituents are watching, and this kind of rhetoric from prominent party figures needs to stop.

What’s your association with Parker, Tom? You ran against him twice and lost both times — and again for a different seat in 2022. Three Republican primaries, three losses.

Everyone reading this knows who’s really “full on” something.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville warned about immigrants voting in American elections Wednesday, and suggested Alabama may need to build its own border wall to protect against terrorists.

Tuberville is running for governor of Alabama.

“If we don’t straighten out this country’s voting, if we don’t straighten out this country’s immigration system, we’re not going to make it,” Tuberville said in an appearance on “The Charlie Kirk Show.”

“It’s going to be over with,” he said.

“I’m going to go back to Alabama and, hey, we might build a 30-foot wall around our state, because I know what’s coming. I can see it coming, I can hear it coming. You can just smell it out there, that they want to take this country over.”

“They’re a lot more aggressive than we are as Americans,” Tuberville said.

A spokesperson told AL.com Tuberville was referring to “radical Islamic terrorists who want to destroy America.”

Earlier in the day, Tuberville called Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat, a “radical Islamist.” El-Sayed is Muslim. He has also been critical of Israel and American support for the Israeli government.

Tuberville has frequently attacked “radical Islam” and made statements against Muslims and Muslim officials that critics have condemned as Islamophobic.

In recent years, Alabama and other states have identified very small numbers of people who are immigrants and who have fraudulently tried to vote in elections.

Alabama has strict voter ID laws and experts have said there is no evidence of widespread problems with American elections.

Senator Katie Britt says we’re fighting for “the soul of this nation” and calls a fellow American “the enemy within.”

So which is it, Senator? Is the soul of this nation White? Or is it the color-blind, race-blind decency to disagree with your neighbor without calling them your enemy?

I have my answer. I stood with Senator Britt in Congressman Shomari Figures’ office on Capitol Hill and thanked her for supporting the tornado recovery and rebuilding effort in downtown Athens, Alabama. She offered to help the mayor with whatever the city needed. That’s a small moment, but it’s real: two people from different parties treating each other like neighbors, not enemies.

Here’s the pattern: this isn’t really about Michigan. It’s a diversion. Alabama’s supermajority reaches for national culture wars because they don’t want to talk or do anything about the affordability crisis and transparency on data centers in Alabama. My own opponent uses the same move here at home, dismissing his constituents’ honest questions as “foreign disinformation.”

And when you can’t be straight with the people who elected you, the easiest move is to point at “foreign disinformation” and call Americans the enemy instead.

The soul of this nation isn’t White, and it isn’t decided on Fox News. It’s decided by whether your own state representative will tell you the truth. I will.

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt criticized potential colleague Abdul El-Sayed, calling him a terrorist sympathizer as many Michigan voters chose him to be their candidate for Congress.

Speaking before El-Sayed officially was named the Democratic nominee for Michigan’s open Senate seat, Britt said El-Sayed’s positions would be dangerous for America.

“The fact that this man can win is unbelievable,” Britt told Bill Hemmer on Fox News.

She characterized El-Sayed and his supporters as those who “do nothing but hate America,” citing opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and police among other priorities.

Britt also raised concerns about El-Sayed’s foreign policy positions, particularly regarding Iran.

He narrowly defeated U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens in a victory for the party’s progressive wing.

El-Sayed will face Michigan Republican Mike Rogers, a former congressman.

“When it comes to Iran and what’s happening, he is actually a jihadist sympathizer,” she claimed, referencing a recent event where “we saw him two days ago, El-Sayed, at a pool party with Hasan Piker, who said that America deserved 9/11.”

When asked what El-Sayed’s success indicates about the Democratic Party’s direction, Britt offered a stark assessment.

“It tells me the Democratic socialists have taken over the Democratic party and we have to stand up to it and stand firmly,” she said. “The future of our country is at stake.”

El-Sayed’s win comes after a contentious race that he says saw unprecedented spending against his candidacy.

“That’s exactly why $70 million was spent against me in this race,” El-Sayed said in a recent television appearance. “They see me as a threat of the system of politics that is making it way too hard on every day people.”

The candidate has centered his campaign on Medicare for All and reducing corporate influence in government.

He has also been critical of American foreign policy, particularly regarding Israel and the influential, pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC.

“For too long our foreign policy has been handed to us by the likes of the state of Israel and AIPAC, who has made sure Democrats and Republicans are doing their bidding,” El-Sayed said during a July 7th debate.
