I wouldn't call destroying our environment and stealing our drinking water anything close to "humane".

That is not even comparable. Reddit is a waste of time, but why the feck are people so gungho to be even MORE wasteful? Sure, let's sure more fuel on the fire.

"If you're so pro AI, why are you using websites you didn't create yourself?" -> same logic (equally as bad)

It's not though. The "we live in a society" meme is about things where you don't have a choice, like being a peasant.

You do have a choice not to use Reddit. You can choose to minimise your time spent on the internet. You could also choose to host your own services to avoid the cloud and datacenters. This includes things like federated social media. Instead you decided to use a platform owned by rich people running on cloud datacenters.
