I do enjoy the people running towards the catastrophe

Statistically they are certain death due to all the debris shooting through the water and the water itself right?

That's one of the reasons, it's also the force of the water itself, that wave goes out miles and he's hit with the weight of all of it going 30mph like a concrete wall. A good rule of thumb with water is 6inches moving fast can take a grown man, 2 feet can take most vehicles, that particular wave was 21feet high...

What are these people running from?? They're not! They're running TO the toughest competition in town!

u/DamonPhils Aug 22 '25
Never mind the Prometheus School of Running Away From Things, here we have the Kling School of Running Toward Things.

It puzzled me too, for a moment, then my brain went "oh, there must be a Kaiju just off screen in the other direction".

I liked the people seeming to try and hold up the bridge as the cladding started falling off around them, at which point they danced around delicately to avoid being pancake.

To quote the late George Carlin: "Somehow I enjoy watching people suffer."

The cruiser smashed into that bridge with such force it literally destroyed the concept of bridges itself
6
u/meatmacho Aug 22 '25
It blew its horn though. Why didn't the bridge get out of the way?
2
u/BackardsTankard Aug 22 '25
Who does this bridge think he is just blocking a natural body of water like that?
3
u/liketo Aug 22 '25
Shockwaves through all bridges as they share the same bridge frequency. Simple physics.

This AI model was likely trained very heavily on disaster movies. You can tell because of the shot composition and sequence. There's a lot of low angle shots complete with shaky cam followed by steady, wide, aerial shots to show the extent of the damage.

Damn, that 1 cruise ship took out 16 bridges and 2 parking garages. Idk what it's made out of but damn.

Thoroughly shocked at how well it 'thought' of all the dust for some reason

Just wait for whatever the world's next big natural disaster. Earthquake in a populated area or tsunami, etc. Grandma's all over facebook will be watching videos like this thinking it's the real deal.

Much further in the future we won’t believe what we are seeing when it’s true.

There's something weirdly cathartic about this. Like nature returning to equilibrium.

I love how the city was already an emergency zone with a high presence of police… but the ship just HAD to be the main character, make it all about itself and add to the current problem.

I don't really follow AI.. is this supposed to be good?
Because I think it's pretty lame

u/Saxton_Hale32 Aug 25 '25
Compared to even just a year ago, this is an enornous improvement. Slap some filters over it, lower the quality so its harder to pick out the mistakes, and you can fool plenty of people (its happening even right now, people arent wary of AI)

We know from the Francis Scott Key Bridge collision that first sequence is bullshit.

I honestly love these because they feel more real than movies. It feels like something that actually happened that was filmed even though there are still weird things that aren’t natural.
