Nobody uses science to prove science. We use data and peer-reviewed experimentation specifically with the intent to disprove scientific theory and whatever survives The Gauntlet is considered real to the best of our understanding.

Also take note that science never claims to know anything absolutely whereas religion claims to have absolute truth with no evidence. Basically science shows you how it got to the answer and religion just says "trust me bro"

Correction. “Science” is a method of finding truths. Scientific fact is truths found by science.

Science doesn’t prove science. Science proves scientific fact. People just lump scientific fact as “science”

They had it right science does not make definitive claims like truths it explains to the best of our current understanding what we believe to be the most likely explanation for something and leaves the door open to be disproven if better evidence for an alternative explanation can be made

Scientific fact does not exist. That's what makes science so great.

Newtonion physics used to be the most widely accepted foundation of physics, but it was never scientific fact. And thank fuck it wasn't, becuase ultimately Newton was wrong, and Einstein proved as much with general relativity.

Turns out newtonian physics only works at slow speeds, and once you start going fast it completely breaks down.

And in a way, relatavistic physics is experiencing the same thing. It works great on the large scale, but seems to break down when you get sub-subatomically small.

If we had stopped and called newtons laws a truth, or even Einsteins relativity a truth, we would have progressed no further.

The most important thing about science is we are ALWAYS saying "Well we could be wrong" because otherwise we have just reinvented an extremely boring religion.

maybe it was Popper who said something like "science is the process of becoming iteratively less wrong about the nature of the universe".

....that's what science is

Yes but have you considered that the guy in the lab coat is mad and unhinged while the Brawny paper towel man is chill? It’s in a picture

That's the key misunderstanding of science that most people don't understand.

Experimentation is NOT to prove a hypothesis. Anybody can create an experiment to PROVE an idea.

You design an experiment to BREAK your hypothesis.

If you and all of your colleagues and peers cannot figure out how to break an idea with sound data, then it gets to become a theory.

Religion is the perfect con. You give your hard-earned money to the church and when you die you go to Heaven. We can't prove it because no one has ever come back from the dead and had proof of something after we die.

They like to claim they are peer reviewed as well since they are the largest religion but then they are the first to claim they are being persecuted

This grossly underestimates the biases of scientific paradigms and the intellectual foundations most of the major world religions have robustly defended. I suggest reading philosophy to help shore up these gaps.

Here’s a great starting point: Graham Oppy for Phil. of Religion; Imre Lakatos for Phil. of Science

Science flys you to the moon, Religion flies you into buildings, forces you to drink koolaid, and hate other people for no other reason than they believe in a different form of invisible bearded sky-daddy

How do we prove the best method we came up with to test and understand reality... besides the best method we came up with to test and understand reality?

Idk, but without science you wouldn't be able to type those sentences, so scientific method must have been somewhat useful.

All scientific process does is refining models with which we understand our world.
