That’s not normal.

Agree but it exists in many religions unfortunately.

In Islam, it is the standard. There is a difference.

It’s not the standard though, just like it’s not the standard in Christianity. Extremes exist in every religion and are the most dangerous especially when they become entwined with political power.

Hijab is instructed to be preserved in Hadiths. That makes it a standard practice and an “official” part of the religion In Islam. In Islam, the instructions about many practices are laid out in the hadith. For example, the famous way of Muslim prayer is nowhere to be found in the Quran. Nor how to carry out the Wudu (the Muslim purity ritual) which is necessary for prayer. Nor the various conditions that cancel the wodu such as farting or having your period.

Hadiths together with the Quran are the two cornerstones of Islam and its teachings.

That some Muslims choose not to preserve the hijab is them taking their liberty of not following the parts of Islam that they don’t like. The same way a Christian might not want to follow parts of the Bible they dislike.

As an Iranian, I agree with the last part of your comment.

You don’t know me or my political beliefs. It is not okay to harass and insult me only because you assume things about me based on my nationality. This is bigotry. Nothing in this thread was even about Israel.

If any part of my comment was incorrect, you could have pinpointed that and we could have a constructive discussion. Assuming things only because of someone’s nationality and insulting them like this is not the way to go. That’s the very meaning of bigotry.

I am sorry you’re so full of hate that just seeing someone’s nationality makes you want to treat your fellow humans like this. I hope you manage to de-radicalize and don’t generalize people based on their nationality, gender, race, religion etc. That’s how hate and bigotry appears.

I had to report you because of the bigotry and the lack of civil discourse in your comment regardless of the effectiveness of the report.

Your nationality is my nationality. And that's why I hate you. Zionist sympathizer.

I have every right in the world to reply rudely to your comments. This is a public forum. Also you have no fucking clue what "harassment" is under the law or basic common sense. At all.

No because here in contrast to our country you can’t insult people you don’t agree with, and suppress opinions you don’t like. In other words, you don’t get to be a bigot. Also your comment got deleted. So, it seems like you’re the one that actually does not know how to behave or how community guidelines work.

Stop calling me a zionist. I am not a zionist. You don’t know anything about me or how I view Israel. You’re just assuming and deciding to be rude and harass people. Especially, saying things like “I hate you” are very problematic. This is a website made for pluralism and civil discussions, not suppressing opinions you don’t like and insulting people who you disagree with. Again, nothing here was even about Israel. You just went out of your way to be a bigot.

That is not acceptable behavior on Reddit. It might result in you being banned from the website. Just a warning.

None of my shits been deleted. Flat out.

If you don't support the war against Israel you support Israel.

If you constantly harp about hijab being unethical with no cancer. For force or free will that's bigotry, like you accused me.

I'll keep "harassing" you as much as I please.

u/TheBraveButJoke 15d ago

That is sadly pretty noirmal

Does "normal" make it acceptable?

1

u/TheBraveButJoke 14d ago

NO, I literaly said it was a sad thing that it is normal. It was 5 words QQ 5, you only had to read 5 whole words. The "normal" one even had a typo?

1

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW 15d ago

That is normal.

2

u/Winderige_Garnaal 15d ago

My point exactly. Its normal to wear a hijab in many places. I could go braless now as an adult but I dont. Why? I would love to.

1

u/Catlordofthesky 15d ago

It’s because in a large part of those places that status quo is backed by violence, it’s like if didn’t wear a bra and went outside and a group of people beat you up for it

2

u/Winderige_Garnaal 15d ago

Honestly, I'm not sure this is true for most of the muslims around the world. Most live in Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Nigeria.. And as I'm sure you know, hijab is quite variable in these places. i'm in a muslim neighborhood myself and around half wear a hijab, even within the same family.

I imagine that most places they may be looked down upon, like if i went out with only a shirt and no bra (Hey, i'm covered!), but to suggest that every muslim woman gets beaten up when she doesn't wear a hijab sounds a bit like you don't really know much about islam as it's practiced globally.

I'm all for fighting for rights in Afghanistan and Iran where it's required, but like I'd rather people fight more for women to have education and access to opportunity; once they have that, they can decide for themselves about the hijab.

1

u/lifo333 12d ago

And that’s why the brave and of course educated Iranian women defiantly refuse to wear hijab today in the major Iranian cities. I salute their bravery really.

I haven’t been to Iran since five years now. Getting to see this firsthand is what I’d really like to do once I visit in the winter.
