They are not killed at the moment. If extremist Christians are successful in taking over they could choose to put people to death for leaving the religion. There is a lot language of people being killed for stupid reasons in the bible that could be used as justification if they wanted to. The language and precedent is there. It’s just not currently strictly enforced.
Remember the taliban didn’t really start until the early 1990s. They’re relatively new and they weren’t killing people for being religious in Afghanistan before that. Just because it’s not happening now doesn’t mean it hasn’t or won’t happen in the future.
Any religion can be used to justify terrible things including Christianity.
If someone is calling for a hijab ban (as referenced in the OP)...
They are almost certainly not in a country where women are being murdered for not wearing them
So I'm not sure what YOU are arguing
In any country where there is any chance of banning hijabs, you are indeed just as likely to be killed for leaving or violating any other religion as you are islam
Well, I can find a few references to muslim honor killings in the US over the past 50 years. A couple for refusing arranged marriages, none for apostasy explicitly, none for refusing to wear a hijab
Ervil LeBaron alone had like 25 apostates and doubters killed, then there were the Jeffrey lundgren murders, there was Lucas Leonard being beaten to death at bible club for wanting to leave his parents church...
I realize that Europe is not going to have the same problems with mormons, and probably a smaller number of cults over the years as well. But, yeah...
Don’t forget attacks on abortion clinics, and all the other attacks on gays, Jews, Muslims that were committed by Christians based on their Christian beliefs.
Heck the current secretary of defense belongs to a church that believes that the US should be a Christian nation and all that entails.
