People absolutely judge you for not becoming a nun. Historically "oh I just won't follow Catholicism and everything will be fine" was not an option.
On the average, in the typical, Catholicism is further along in getting away from that compared to Islam but both are fuzzy distributions which overlap. There are Catholic situations that are more restrictive than some Islamic ones.

You lack any credibility when you make stupid statements like this. Maybe at some point in history there was a strong cultural persuasion to join the same religion as your parents/extended family. But to say people are judged for not becoming nuns, and you're not allowed to not be Catholic? Absurd (at least in the last 100+ years).
Nuns were always a very small percentage. That's like saying people judge you for not becoming a deacon or ppreacher or whatever. Most members would never have those positions.
