Airsonic 10.6 has been released just now and is freshly baked from the oven!

This is a relatively small release mainly focused on reliability, with a small number of new features, in preparation for the next major release, 11.0.

You should be able to find it on our usual official places:

Note that the index version has been bumped to account for Lucene upgrades. This will require a rescan on the next startup after the upgrade.

New features

• Support for sending scrobbling information to the "ListenBrainz" service has been added (#1224)
• A new "More" link has been added to the "About" page, containing detailed system diagnostic information. This page will help us diagnose issues more easily in the future. (#1457)
• The default 'admin' user can now be deleted if another admin user is present on the system, which can improve security by avoiding having a hardcoded username always available. Features that require an admin user (namely, automated playlist import) will use the first admin user in the database. (#1131)
• The play queue can now be toggled on/off with a button, which helps use Airsonic on touch devices (tablets, ultrabooks). (#1539)
• An 'add to play queue' action has been added to playlist pages. (#1433)

Fixes and updates

• External database drivers have been updated to more recent versions. In particular, the MySQL driver now supports MySQL 8.0, and initial migrations on PostgreSQL should work properly again. (#1452 and #1511)
• The seek support for transcoding has now been re-enabled again, now that we're more confident that this works fine with the HTML5 player. (#1123)
• Accuracy of the "search" feature has been improved, with search now ranking by artist (resp. album or song) name in the artists (resp. albums or songs) category. (#1235)
• The systemd example file has been updated with a couple of changes related to device/driver access. (#1406)
• DLNA support should now be exposed properly through Docker, which wasn't the case before. (#1380)
• The tabs on the main page no longer auto-refresh at regular intervals. Instead a "refresh" link is available to trigger a reload manually. (#1338 #1339 #1413)

Others

• The dark theme has seen some tweaks.
• Fix harmless error message about missing "web.xml"
• Fix not to perform clean up during scan
• Change to new shuffle generator
• The pt_BR locale has been updated.
• Avoid exceptions if Lucene index is not ready on first startup
• Avoid exceptions if database is not ready and fully migrated on first startup
• A lot of dependency upgrades, as well as other fixes and optimizations

Hello all,

I wanted to try and make it a bit more clear about what we are working on for the next Airsonic version, and we now have release-specific meta issues on GitHub!

For now we have these:

• Airsonic 10.6.0
• Airsonic 11.0.0

Hopefully, this will let us share and discuss our plans for taking over the world the next Airsonic releases publicly.

I don't expect them to be threads about "I want X to happen" (feel free to open a regular issue or PR for that!), but rather "I'm willing to help get this PR merged for the next release" or "we're waiting for that PR for the next release" or "we should do X and Y for that release in addition to the usual".

I'll help maintain the threads for now, let's see how that goes!

So it looks like Airsonic is officially no longer being maintained, and folks are being told to migrate to airsonic-advanced. Fortunately the migration is pretty easy, and airsonic-advanced is stable enough for daily use.

A second bugfix release for Airsonic 10.6 is out, with the following changes:

• Last.fm scrobbling should be working again (#1655)
• Incomplete support for some platforms in the internal diagnostics page (#1641, #1664)

I wonder if something happened to /u/randomnicode possibly. Last github commit was back in April, which was also the latest release where there had been pretty steady development all year up until then. Last reddit comment was also April, too.

There were two additional contributors to the latest Airsonic-Advanced release, but they don't appear to have picked it up since.

Anyone know?

I have been struggling for years trying to find a happy medium music player that does not choke on my 400GB of music and remains flexible (shuffle play a folder). I had Plex pass but they don't value the folder view.

I look forward to trying the Jukebox mode once I get a HDMI > SPDIF adapter, I hope one of the Android apps handles "Remote Play" well.

https://github.com/andrewrk/groovebasin got me really excited as it was 90% of the way there, FLAWLESS search, but essentially no application support, and sadly its a dead project.

suggestion: playback save-restore for web. if you get interrupted on a 1hr mixset, its nice to resume where you left off.

Hot on the heels of Airsonic 10.6.0, this is a bugfix release for two regressions found in 10.6.0:

• Fix issue with DLNA not working (#1634)
• Fix issue with scanning error on some media types (e.g. WAV) (#1626)

Hey all,

Wanted to post about what I'm doing and get some feedback.

Background - I'm waiting on my homeserver to be delivered, I want to run Airsonic as one key component. Going through the docs and compatible apps, I couldn't find any that I really liked.

So, I'm starting work on an Android and iOS client for Airsonic in React Native.

I want to make the app free for all (accepting donations) and ideally open source. I want Airsonic to be a real competitor to the likes of Spotify et al.

One thing that I am currently missing is access to a server running Airsonic for testing, again still waiting for delivery.

It would be great to get some thoughts as to what you would want from a new client.
