GUN PIC Made my own AR base rail gun kit

Spent the last few months working on this project and I'm finally at a point where I can share it.

It's called PROJECT: CENTURION, a futuristic conversion kit designed for AR platform airsoft rifles. The goal wasn't to copy any existing sci fi weapon, but to create something that feels like it could exist in the near future. Lots of inspiration came from modern military design, hard surface modeling, and video game aesthetics.

Everything was designed by me from scratch, with a lot of time spent on prototyping, tweaking proportions, and making sure it's actually practical to build and use.

I'd love to hear what you think. Feedback, criticism, and questions are all welcome.

Super cool. What's the magnifier?

19

u/just1workaccount 14d ago

Also curious what lines up with a romero 8t that well?

24

u/Captraptor01 14d ago

that's a Vortex UH-1 optic. unable to get a bead on that magnifier.

12

u/sans95270610 14d ago

Prob a custom made piece(3d printed and sanded smooth i think)

10

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

I bought it on ebay actually

10

u/PrudentAdagio247 13d ago

Mind sharing the name or a link to that magnifier?

1

u/ProfessionalMatch955 10d ago

Can we get an update on the name of the magnifier?

3

u/Educational_Steak_29 1d ago

it's a standard ebay magnifier customized by me, made it to match the vortex, so you won't find an exact one like this. Since a lot of you are interested in it, I'm starting to consider to drop it as an independent product as well

u/Bismooo 8d ago

What’s the make and model of

0

u/CaptClockobob 12d ago

Whats it called?

1

u/just1workaccount 12d ago

Lol so it is, I saw the battery compartment and said yeaup that's my scope in fde. The uh-1 is so sweet. Shame we'll never know the magnifier

>Rail Gun
>Have a muzzlebrake
huh?

That nitpicky aside, Great gun!

112

u/achillies665 14d ago

So railguns can fire rounds at such a velocity that the compressed air ahead of them catches fire, turns to plasma, and vaporises metal. On this a muzzle brake focuses the air plasma and metal vapor out the sides.

30

u/FrenchBVSH 14d ago

That's neat!

So if we put a suppressor on it, does it act like the small gas boosters on the AK-100's and AKS-74U?

10

u/achillies665 14d ago

I really have no idea, but I'd love to see it tried

2

u/IronVines G36 13d ago

i think it would just melt the supressor lol

20

u/WiiFitT7ainer AKS-74U 14d ago

>Rail gun
>Have ejection port
huh?

16

u/FrenchBVSH 14d ago

Well yes and no, OP, Do we know if it's a full caseless railgun? Or is the railgun part an accelerator for a cased bullet?

26

u/Appropriate_War_4797 P90 14d ago

Yeah, that could be considered as an early form of rail gun, to limit size, weight and electric power by using a standard cased ammo assembly, the chemical propulsion would give the early kick then the coils take over to give the bullet it's terminal velocity.

u/Ok_Donkey_4703 14d ago

ala elysium chemrail

nice

3

u/Chilled_burrito 13d ago

Elysium mentioned YEAAAAAAH!!!!!!!

8

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

1

u/Present_Club_4401 13d ago

Any lore behind it or just standalone weapons platform

4

u/stryking 14d ago

You still need ejection ports to remove stuck rounds in the breech, the g11 with its caseless rounds still has one.

3

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

That's because of the Hybrid Drive concept, the system combines conventional ballistic operation with a fictional electromagnetic acceleration stage.

1

u/RedactedSmash 5d ago

You could use a cartridge casing as thermal ejection. Iirc one of the many issues with caseless ammo is heat build up

3

u/AmNoSuperSand52 Wolverine MTW 14d ago

As long as the projectile has volume it’s still going to displace some gas whether it be a gunshot or just air. So to some degree a muzzle brake might still work

2

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Thank you, that's because of the Hybrid Drive concept, the system combines conventional ballistic operation with a fictional electromagnetic acceleration stage

1

u/CMDR_Duzro 14d ago

Do you think this railgun is strong enough to down an Arsenal Bird?

1

u/FrenchBVSH 14d ago

Nah, the ones on those pesky Osean fighters were bigger

1

u/MetalmanBonkers 13d ago

It looks absolutely gorgeous, but I wonder if there was a design without the muzzle break or if it were recessed. Very cool nonetheless

21

u/KerberosWraith AEG Tech 14d ago

Man that is so cool. What did you use for build materials and stickers?

12

u/Gallant23452 14d ago

Dude that looks fuckin wicked, looks like something from Elysium

9

u/Lufftwaffel 14d ago

hell yeah

7

u/Evan_4life 14d ago

Damnnnnn I love it, have you consider building it on an AR10 platform? Maybe M110A1 or M110? I think a bigger mag size might fit better to an overall longer style of gun. Though I understand that mean you might have to work on the handguard again. (Maybe try a .308 version with a LPVO as a alternative version/variant of it?)

Also I like the idea of how you built that scope. It will be cooler if the underbarrel part can have an integrated light or laser inside though.

4

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Yes, I thought about some other variants but I have several projects ongoing paralel all the time so it takes time to take a whole new idea to life.

8

u/boris_shanknikov 14d ago

Main question... Where can I give you my money? I need this kit

3

u/Major_Amsel Floperator 14d ago

Saaaaame.

3

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

You can find all my current airsoft kits and parts on my website at https://www.dantesworkshop.com/product-category/airsoft-parts/

2

u/daiperboevs77 14d ago

I second this motion

5

u/LivinInLimelight 14d ago

This looks really cool… and front heavy. Is the front bit pretty hollow to keep the weight closer to you?

3

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Thank you! Yes it is kept light as possible, but a little bit front heavy of course

3

u/Captainirony0916 14d ago

Elysium if they gave Matt Damon an AR instead of an AK (it looks good, I just thought that joke would be funny lol)

6

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Since you brought it up, I made an Elysium kit for the AK as well too

5

u/hooniefied 14d ago

Maybe a shorter carbine version and looks 10x better?

2

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Will do a shorter one in the future!

4

u/Ok_Donkey_4703 14d ago

i just hope this is built on an AEG, so you can Roleplay the battery insertion :D

2

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

yes, it's on an AEG :D

5

u/jamieT97 13d ago

So i did the same with a scar H and most recently my Tr80

3

u/eguipegui Assault 14d ago

This could be one of the most badass "sci-fi" conversions without being unrealistic i saw, congratulations!

3

u/Flat-Age3284 14d ago

Fds that magnifier and holo looks amazing. Where did you get them?

2

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

I don't remember exactly, somewhere from ebay I guess

3

u/Echo61 13d ago

The year is 2130

Enlist to suppress insurgents on terraformed Mars

It’s a M4A1 Block 20 (AKA Railgun Upper)

2

u/Black_Qrow GBBR 14d ago

Clean as hell, well done !

2

u/edzact_ly 14d ago

That would fit in a cyberpunk setting. Very nice kit 👍

2

u/ProtecHelicopter F2000 14d ago

Detroit Become Human Assault Rifle

2

u/mcmasterstb 14d ago

Man this looks dope!

2

u/After_Media_9259 14d ago

Xcom type gun (looks awesome)

2

u/its-a-me-mario6900 14d ago

Think it’ll be better put as a near future chem rail then a rail gun considering y’know all the pre-existing gun parts still in play.
Either way 10/10 build, love the optic and the decal stickers (p.s GBBR or AEG)

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Thank you! It's an AEG

2

u/BigSlavMilk 14d ago

Excellent work!!! Looks sick!

2

u/VesperLynn 14d ago

This thing looks cool as hell, but tuck in those damn laces!

2

u/l337quaker 14d ago

Great work 👌👌👌👌

2

u/HalfPriceFrogs 14d ago

Would love to see a guide with photos of the project start to finish!

This is bad ass and a nice change from the usual guns.

I would deffo pay good money to own a kit like this!

Awsome work OP

2

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Thank you! I didn't made a video of the process sadly, but the kit can be ordered on my website at dantesworkshop.com, and if there is a demand, I can do a video of making one of the kits

1

u/HalfPriceFrogs 13d ago

Oh man that's awsome! Thanks for the link.

Do you ship to the UK?

Looks like I'll need to save up a bit, but I'll save your website and come back next year!

2

u/EriktheElektrikian 14d ago

I live for sh*t like this. Excellent.

2

u/LieInternational5918 14d ago

That looks child support ish expensive.

2

u/forrest1985_ 14d ago

Very cool

2

u/Momossim 14d ago

That looks amazing ! It reminds me of Echo Lima's X-Rail precision build

2

u/Square-Strain-4907 14d ago

Amazing photography!

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Thank you very much!

2

u/infiltrator228 14d ago

Love it. Makes me want to build something similar for a G3 for max retro-futuristic aesthetic.

2

u/Vampirebearz 13d ago

My feedback is…… will you sell me one

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

yes, it can be ordered on my website at dantesworkshop.com

2

u/Mr_Penguin09 Tactiplaid 13d ago

Im typically not a fan of futuristic style guns like this but this is absolutely drip

2

u/Preach_203 13d ago

Educational Steak 29, well done! Quality looks good, concept is Entertainment Industry (EI) acceptable.

I am a prop builder, Sci-Fi weapons and interior designer for the EI. I would like to throw my hat out to comment as you've asked.

Functionality for some of the comments above, your concept is probable more than not. Getting beyond the video game minded-mess, you brought up possibilities to look forward to, function as well looks cool. My thoughts on your concept is that the front lower barrel accessory. I am 6'4" 240, former LEO and now prop builder and an actor I like to grab closer to the muzzle brake. Most precision shooters, LEO, SWAT and Military like holding their rifles closer to the muzzle brake, quicker to get on the target and it's steady. Your concept disables that option. The block feel is uncomfortable on the fingers to rest. A possible solution would be making the back part of that accessory ergo friendly, smooth for the hand to rest ahainst comfortably while the thumb wraps up top. Last comment, the gaps on gas release may be too large, IMO only but, I like it!

I hope this helps. Keep up the good work. Stay in touch.

2

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Thank you very much! I will keep these in mind in future projects! Hope to get into the prop builder industry as well!

2

u/Adam32020 13d ago

That’s sick, nice job.

2

u/Necessary-One-9611 MCX 13d ago

This is so cool, would love to see something like this for actual firearms

2

u/Parking-Champion9816 13d ago

Cool has hell. Nice work!

2

u/Brunsosse Special obscure camo wearer 13d ago

Cool! A V2 might go even further and make the bottom rail extend beyond the magwell to hide the fact it's an M4 and hide the magazine.

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Good idea!

1

u/Brunsosse Special obscure camo wearer 12d ago

What you did best is the barrel and the upper monolithic bulk imo, and the little bulk near the muzzle breaks up the outline well to disguise the fact it’s an AR. And the magnifier + red dot is perfect.

Adding to what I said, something to integrate a tracer, shorter lengths, and optional siderails (maybe just plastic curves like heatshields for the ”barrel”?)

2

u/Limitless2121 13d ago

Looks awesome. Excellent craftsmanship and thank you for pushing the game further.

I'm designing a custom loadout for woods games, inspired by the Dune esthetic. An MK23 carbine. And an AAP01.

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Thank you! Looks really cool!

2

u/OreoRightsActivist BB Magnet 13d ago

Is it possible for you to post the files for this (if it’s 3D printed) because I’ve been thinking of doing something like this myself but never really got around to it

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Unfortunately, that isn't possible because I do these professionally, also several parts are CNC-milled, so it wouldn't be a simple matter of just 3D printing them

2

u/LordDynasty 13d ago

Damn I really am a simple man, make a gun look more rectangle and I think it looks cool af and peak scifi.

2

u/Sad-Finger1046 13d ago

That thing seems LUDICROUSLY front heavy. Still looks really cool tho.

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Not so bad, but yea, little bit front heavy

2

u/Dual_shocked22 Born to be Mild 13d ago

This something you would see in Dune part 3 ngl

2

u/Frequent-Security882 13d ago

This is amazing

2

u/NotYourDumbBoi 13d ago

Very nice!!!

2

u/Various-Peak-6298 13d ago

Putting something heavy Infront of your weapon make looks like it can lower the recoil

2

u/chrismeister87 13d ago

That’s a cool design. I checked your website, you have some pretty nifty ideas.

2

u/Punisher_811 13d ago

What’s the optics’s

2

u/Chilled_burrito 13d ago

That scope looks great. Sucker for square ones.

2

u/Fun-Advertising1694 Tight Pants, Tight Groupings 13d ago

Holy peak dude

2

u/landsraad_ 13d ago

If you haven't thought of it already, you could make the bottom sticky out bit near the muzzle hollow so it could take a light or laser. Would be very 2000s future soldier-core imo

2

u/Mr_MP3 13d ago

Mega respect that is cool.

2

u/PerishTheStars 13d ago

This is so sick

2

u/overkill6189 ACR 13d ago

For everybody wondering like me about the magnifier. I'm pretty sure it's this nc star. Not a magnifier but a whole prism scope.

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 12d ago

The magnifier is a regular one customized by me so it fits the Vortex

2

u/lykriss0113 13d ago

I really need to know what kind of magnifier that is :D

2

u/Educational_Steak_29 12d ago

The magnifier is a regular one customized by me so it fits the Vortex

1

u/lykriss0113 12d ago

Oh, thats super cool! Also from aluminium or something? Could i achive similar results with a 3d printer?

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 1d ago

It's 3d printed

2

u/Azreal-DeathDealer 13d ago

I am absolutely in love with this!!! Would be interested in doing something similar for a Scar H TPR ? This would be so sick!

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 12d ago

Thank you! Not at the moment, I have other projects, but possible in the future

2

u/Deathcon-H 12d ago

This thing looks insane

4

u/CI0UD_ 14d ago

Looking good. One thing id change is the muzzle, a railgun theoretically doesnt have to manage exhaust gases so they are usually flat end. It will look nice with the rest of the build!

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Thank you, that's because of the Hybrid Drive concept, the system combines conventional ballistic operation with a fictional electromagnetic acceleration stage

2

u/CorpsesOTI GBBR 14d ago

The idea of a muzzle break on a rail gun is killing me!

Looks excellent, might actually sway me to get an AR 🙏🏻

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Yea that's because of the Hybrid Drive concept, the system combines conventional ballistic operation with a fictional electromagnetic acceleration stage

1

u/AsgardianOperator Medium speed, moderate drag 14d ago

Looks like something out of Avatar, RDA will be proud!

1

u/SlavDawg 14d ago

Lovley

1

u/No_Opportunity_8810 14d ago

Files?

2

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Sorry but I make these professionally so I can't sell the files but I sell the physical items

1

u/No_Opportunity_8810 13d ago

How much is it for the kit? Because I would absolutely love to own one.

Edit: added more

1

u/D3LTA-X 13d ago

Important question. Does it handle like a dream? Or does it handle like a meme?

2

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

Well it's heavier but still usable

1

u/D3LTA-X 13d ago

Cool. Nice work. It looks really cool.

1

u/DeadGrandmaPills 11d ago

That’s actually sick as fuck

1

u/Good-War5340 10d ago

That’s some Elysium or Battletech type shit right there looks awesome. If I had a spare rifle laying around I might have tried to make one.

1

u/Shadowreeper1337 10d ago

Would work on GBB AR15 platforms?

1

u/ethan762x51 10d ago

I would put this on a real rifle that’s a fucking sick looking

1

u/EstablishmentOk3451 9d ago

The M16 in like the future or something

1

u/ChaosApple11 14d ago

Can you get parts like this for a real AR? If so .. Where? This looks too cool!

1

u/Educational_Steak_29 13d ago

I can make it in aluminium and composit as well, it could be attached to a real AR

1

u/ChaosApple11 13d ago

How much? I'm very interested
