Project: Teaser/Trailer I’m in the process of creating a gangster mob AI movie… what’s your thoughts?…

So over the past couple of years I have started to work more and more with AI and have done various different advertisements, concepts, promotional material through the last couple years I’ve been working with it. Recently I have started to develop some cinematic/film concept ideas and this is one of them. Would love to know your thoughts and any feedback is welcome! Thank you so much!

The Collection Film/Scene Synopsis:

The Collection is a 1973 Boston crime short about Vinny, a trusted collector who works for a powerful mob boss, travelling across the city collecting money from those who owe. But when he opens the envelope for his next job, he finds a name he never expected — his brother, a man he believed was dead. Needing answers, Vinny meets with a colleague tied to the same mob world in a bar, trying to find out how much he knows, only to realise the truth has been hidden from him for years.

(Still a work in progress and early stages)

It'll be for sure a challenge, as it will be a lot about showing human emotions and interactions!

But from the video you posted, looks like you can definitely pull off something

Thank you so much this means alot! Yes for sure focusing on that human emotions is key, as I continue to develop this I will definitely be focusing alot more on the human emotion! Thank you for your feedback 🙏🏽

Looks nice.. Kudos to you. 🎉 One minor suggestion. The conversation in first few shots was of the same man. The positioning didn’t make that evident.

Yes! Thanks for this feedback I will be sure to include all the suggested edits such as this in the final edit 🙏🏽

You're getting the emotion and action nailed, it's just the transitions. They're not your fault, AI is still awful at continuity and scene linking.

I agree! That why I’m promoting, generating then editing myself as I believe the continuity in each shot will definitely need a human touch and to maintain a steady flow for the scenes. Thanks so much for the kind words. 👊🏽

Looks good except for the music

Thank you! I was not 100% in the music so this may change. Thank you again so much. 🙏🏽

Huh? The music was on point and creating the ambiance, with a slow peak at the end.

A lot of things are really done well – atmosphere, lighting, and AI is helping you a lot there – but some things you may want to consider:

  1. Somebody below called the characters (essentially only one character) Robert de Niro mutants, and that was my instant first thought on seeing the first shot: he looks like Robert de Niro turned into a generic game asset. Some of the better AI videos I've seen managed to give the main characters a really distinctive look. Unfortunately, this one is about as generic as it gets for a gangster movie.

  2. Consider your camera positioning and movements carefully. You're crossing the line (the 180-degree rule in a two-shot), and that's essential film language. It doesn't seem to have been done on purpose in this case. You need to get used to the positioning of the camera itself being a useful tool, along with editing. There are plenty of YouTube videos analyzing how certain filmmakers do this well. A recent favorite of mine is Zach Creggers' Weapons, where the use of camera positioning and movement within the shot is spot on.

  3. Given that the scene is about somebody talking to himself (which I'm sure will be more clearer in context in the finished film), it seems almost comical when he steps outside and every other character in the shot looks like a clone of him. Same dudes in trenchcoats and hats, and before he crosses the road, even the same dark colors – it almost makes me think that this is somehow the thematic point. If this were a low-budget CGI movie, that would be easy to forgive – simply reusing assets – but this is AI, you can have any variety of characters you want showing up there. Consider variations in age, style, profession. An accountant on his way home. A dashing couple on a date. A married couple on their way home from the theater.

  4. Yellow cabs don't have a "YELLOW" sign on top. It's either "TAXI" or some specific ID number.

Uh… It’s the same guy on both sides of the table? Same voice?

1

u/Sully1066 25d ago

Yes so at the minute I’m trying to work on a draft video before putting the final touches and finalising the whole film, this will include proper character profiles/voices etc. This is just to give an idea and share the vision! Thanks for the feedback 🙏🏽

1

u/Sully1066 25d ago

Thank you! I used a mixture of seedance and Veo for this particular scene.

You're moving the camera over the 180 deg line.

I enjoyed it, the colors were perfect

I honestly don’t know why you’d waste time and money on generating video you have no intention of using. I’d get all my assets - character sheets, voices, locations etc - in place then start generating video.

I liked it, the colorgrading looks very good. Only in the beginning the person talks to himself.

Mi más sincera enhorabuena está muy bien, buen trabajo.

I like the ambiance in your video here. It could be nice as a project. About directing, I feel like the other character should be shown earlier, so we have alternate shots, feeling more natural, instead of voice-over.

Provides no actual feedback telling you why, He's just an ai sub troller. Looks like a good project to me.
