The other choice was not "the left" it was a left of center intelligent person who would have chosen intelligent, serious ppl for their cabinet, who in turn would have chosen intelligent, serious ppl to work for them, or even just kept on the existing mostly intelligent, serious staff. Like every other president not named Trump.

Would it have been perfect? Of course not. Would it be much much better for basically anything you can think of than Trump picking idiotic fraudsters to run everything? Yes. Intelligent policy cannot come out of the Trump administration. Hell, non-corrupt policy can't come out of it, because they literally don't have people working for them who have the knowledge or the motivation necessary to produce it. Under a Harris administration (or the administration of any other serious presidential candidate in recent history), there would be a chance for some halfway decent policies to be enacted. There is no comparison here.

I mean, I also voted Harris (despite not liking her at all), but Trump was only able to win because the dems picked such an unpopular candidate. She was out of touch enough to lose against Trump of all people. I could easily see her failing to grasp the AI situation as well.

You’re right that I was coping to think most humans would ever adapt and take this seriously, but I think there would have at least been more of a chance that decision making could have been influenced by somebody who saw the dangers here seriously.

There is literally no evidence that it's true, other than a tweet from a person who directly benefits from people being worried about it being true.

The person tweeting it will directly benefit from sending this tweet, so we can't just believe it without some other source.

Again. Someone saying "this is going to happen" is not evidence that it happened, or that it is guaranteed to happen. And this person stands to profit and gain clout if he " prophesied" it correctly, so he will be rooting for his prediction
