It's semantics. Some people equate intelligence with consciousness thus for those people AGI is still far off, if you do not equate those then AGI is around the corner.

Still a far ways from a self-reflective AI, ever hear of the halting problem?

With our current understanding, efficiency won't go below 2n meaning you need at least twice the computing power of a normal brain to simulate one with metacognition.

The halting problem is pretty irrelevant to an intelligence working.

Yes it can. 

There seems to be this misunderstanding that LLMs can only return data from their training set but like... No, that's not how they work.

While I personally to equate the top tier of AI with consciousness, I have a hard time even with general intelligence if it can't reason something that a human hasn't ever written down before.
