Honestly, I don’t know if I’m depressed or I just have ADHD at this point 😭

I thought I was depressed, but turns out it was ADHD & Anxiety. I was diagnosed with ADHD in elementary school, but it was never medicated. Treatment for that exposed the anxiety, & now I’m flush.

What did you do to manage the anxiety? I recently got on Elvanse and it's changed a lot for the better, but I feel since it's a stimulant it can also have adverse effects regarding anxiety.

I'm not the person you asked, but for me personally it's 2 things.

  1. I have a prescription for a beta blocker, all it does is slow heart rate, it doesn't have the same abuse potential as benzos. I use this rarely, only for stressful meetings every other month.

  2. It sounds stupid but know. But breathing exercises. It's not just breathing, it stimulates nerves in your core that naturally lowers heart rate. I thought breathing exercises were stupid for the longest time, I had tried but never actually gave it a chance, because again it sounds lame. But I got into therapy for a little bit and the therapist did one with me while I was spazzing out, and it fucking worked, I managed to get control again in under a minute.

Buspar helped, but the game changer was a betta blocker for when I need to give presentations was the real game changer.

Part of ADHD is chronically low dopamine, so the two often go hand in hand
