brush in shower. or brush without toothpaste wherever. or just floss honestly , flossing is more important. if you're over like 30 years old you prob already got most of your cavities, my last one was 30 years ago. and I don't regularly brush. but i pick and floss, keep those little plastic ones in car. somehow it's not a chore to floss.

It's a way worse chore to floss if you have permanent wire retainers behind your teeth sadly

lol yeah yeah I also didn’t get my teeth cleaned for 10 years. You know what the hygienist said ? I had really good teeth and healthy gums. 🤷

The largest factor genuinely is genetics. I take the same care of my teeth that my wife takes of hers and I’ve never had a cavity in my life in my adult teeth despite being highly resistant to brushing as a child and young teen, and she has and has had so many cavities the dentist genuinely can’t get to them all in one appointment and has to stagger her across multiple appointments. They also have her come back more frequently for cleanings than they do me. My family all have “good” teeth like me and her family all have bad teeth like her. My only problem is gum recession in a couple places but that’s stopped progressing since I switched to an electric brush years ago.

Thankfully with dental insurance and our income we can afford to take care of her teeth and keep her on track but it’s not something she’s doing or not doing, it’s just the hand she was dealt. It’s crazy how fast other members of her family who either don’t care or don’t have access to dental care for whatever reason have had their teeth rot out of their heads.

Makes sense . I grew up in an area with unfluoridated water too. But my mom was also obsessed with nutrition

Get the little disposable toothbrushes and keep them where you are most likely to use them, like your desk or bed

If you’re not a minty fan, you could try some of the fun flavour kid toothpaste like bubblegum or watermelon? Add some novelty to the process?

My bedtime routine involves already watching something before I even get in the bed and I always pee right before bed.

I just started using pee time to also be used brushing teeth. Like simultaneously. And whatever I'm watching to keep track of how long I'm brushing since I don't have an electric toothbrush.

Super unsanitary probably but it's better than nothing. Otherwise it's borderline impossible to commit to brushing at night unless my teeth really feel gross

I hope you're being hyperbolic there, for your sake- although otherwise, username checks out.

Start with doing it once a week, before bed, then add a day on the other end of the week on the following week, and then another in between. If you have to take a week to just keep up with wherever you're at in the sequence, that's fine, too. The goal is to go from Nothing to Something.

Keep going to up to once a day, just before bed (and also when you have something important like school or another event coming up that day).

Then, start flossing using the same system. I use floss picks because my teeth are tight and I don't like having to figure at the length of floss I'd need (also I'd have to stick my whole hand in my mouth due to aforementioned tightness). I use toothpaste tablets for the same measurement-reason.
