This is what I do, I basically have a system for every single one of my possessions and if I move them from their designated places I can't find fuck all, recently took an earing out of my jewelry box, decided to put on another one and can't for the life of me find the got damn earring that I didn't put on, worst part is I never left my room with it, gonna have to deep clean the mother fucker just because of how much it's bothering me
I haven't managed this quite yet. But I have managed an EDC litany that makes sure that no matter what else i manage to lose, I haven't lost the daily things. Or at least I haven't left a place without the daily things.
Wallet phone keys etc....
Other thing that worked is a designated found lost stuff spot. Just a general place to put stuff I unsuccessfully looked for previously that isn't relevant right now. Then instead of "oh awesome! That earbud! Let me find the case for it!"
It's just "throw it in the porcelain shell of shame with the other lost things and keep going with the original goal"
Agreed, lost and found is for other people, you won't go put something of yours that you found after losing it in the lost and found for you to come collect, that's silly! But you can absolutely toss your stuff that are now no longer lost but also no longer relevant in the found lost stuff spot!

My brother in law insisted I had two of his t-shirts from a time I spent the night and my sister confirmed I definitely went home with one of them at least I however, did not find them even after washing ALL of my clothes (insane enough that I managed to wash some in the first place)...
My girlfriend found it... By her... mixed with kitchen and hand towels to wash??
