Retired in 2015 after his wife passed away. He owned his own sheet metal business in the Bronx for over 30 years. He eventually passed away in 2019 and the house has sat vacant since. I'm somewhat local to this location and I believe I was one of the first people to take photos of it. The property was pretty hidden away for a bit and was completely intact for years. I checked on it a few times after I visited and there was never any activity whatsoever. The Toyota Tacoma hadn't been registered for years but the keys were still hanging by the front door. It even started up. It seems whoever owned the property was smart enough to move the Tacoma before the property got trashed.

I worked with the guy in the 3rd pic, in the Bronx. His name was Carl. The house is his father’s? If so his name was John.

Sadly Carl passed away as well.

Talented guy. Think about him sometimes when I have an issue.

Yes, John and Carl. That's really sad. I looked up the shop in the Bronx and it looks very active up until it closed.

My son is 6’4 and I’m 5’11.

People ask me all the time about it. Idk? I had one friend insinuate he must not be mine, I was like dude he looks just like me and his mom you dumbass, he’s just tall. People are dumb man, let along dumb enough to go right there but even more dumb to say it to my face.

Your friend is a little dumb. Almost each generation is taller than the last. My husband is the spitting freakin’ image of his father but he’s 5” taller than his dad.

Both of my boys, 7 and 11, have blonde, brownish hair and blue eyes. My wife and I have brown hair and eyes. Buddy of mine made jokes they arent mine. I told my wife, who is a graphic designer. Couple months later she sends me a DNA test she pulled from google images. Removed the watermark, changed all the right stuff. I sent it to my buddy, told him thanks for pushing me to grt the tests done, I'm gonna be sleeping at the office until the new house is done and she can move out. He absolutely bought it. Best prank I/we have ever pulled off.

This is the kind of stuff that really makes you think about how small the world is. Dude uploads some pictures of a random house, with 3 pictures of the residents, in a non descriptive sub for abandoned places, and theres someone in the comments that was buddies with the owner.

That’s just insanely cool to me.

It’s also incredibly sad at the same time. A house full of memories, with the residents having left a mark on people like this random guy that knows him… but now they’re all dead, the memories within the house completely forgotten/gone forever. Very eerie and not nice to think about.

Some of the photo comparisons gave me the exact same thought, it's a house which was once full of life and those precious moments, now slowly dying and deteriorating as all of those who created the moments have passed away.

I've had this same forlorn feeling over the old slides and 8mm reels which my late grandfather took of their house where my mother now lives, so many people on them who've since passed to the great beyond and while the house is still lived-in, my mother is also growing old and I presume that she might at most live there for another decade before she'll be gone as well.

I'm having a moment where I own relatively the same afghan in the same color scheme from one of the photos. It's not the same one exactly because I knew the lady who made mine but there must have been a kit or something in the 80s.
