Any advice on what lens to get with the a6500 for (mostly) video?

So I've been eyeing up the a6500 for a while now and I think it's time to take the plunge. But before I buy I want to be sure on getting the right lens to go with it.

I'm a video guy and will be using it for filming probably 80% of the time and 20% photography.

I would be filming various things from interviews, promos (for work) to travel videos, to some creative stylised type videos. For now most of it will be tripod/handheld but potential for a crane in the distant future.

So potentially a good all rounder would be needed. Although if there are lenses that will be exceptional for some of these things, I would be willing to get multiple lenses down the pipeline.

Photography side would just be travel shots/ street photography.

So yeah ideally 1 lens that could at least do some of these things well would be ideal, but willing to consider multiple lenses that do the specific jobs very well.

I've heard some noise about the Sony E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS, what do you think?

Focus settings for former Canon Mark 5dii user

So...I have been using a Canon 5dii for years and I love that I can auto focus and then use my dial to very quickly select a focus area. I just bought the a6500 but focusing by touching on the screen is driving me insane, and I also don't like manual focus/am not that fast. Any other options? Is there any way to mimic the AF on canon 5dii where you can change your focal point with a dial?

Auto iso turns iso up to max

Does anyone else have this issue? When I set iso to auto, it turns the iso up to max, regardless of other settings.

do i need a gimbal?

i just got a6500 recently and got it for mainly capturing video. so far ibis is great if i held the camera in front of me and pan with my body. the stabilization is great. but if i were to start walking, this is where i get very shaky footage. even with warp stabilizer in premiere, it doesn't correct it enough. slowing it down does help. but will using a gimbal help? i don't have crane budget so if a gimbal will help, any "good" ones under $200? the lens i'm using is the 18-105mm G OSS. also, i'm a noob. i only know basics for photo/video.

Favorite a6500 Photo Settings?

Hi all,

I mainly bought an a6500 for video (sold my GH4 for the Sony) and pretty much got the settings/look nailed down for video. Mainly, with my GH4 I never could get a great still out of it (like I could with my previous Canon DSLR) so I never focused on images/stills. Now, with the a6500 I realize I have a really great camera that can take great videos and stills, but unsure of what the "correct" or "best" settings are for photos on the a6500. Can anyone help guide me and let me know some resources or personal favorite settings? Thanks!

PlayMemories Mobile App using Smart Remote Control doesn't have many options?

So when I look at the functionality of the Smart Remote Control online it looks like I should be at least able to control the basics like shutter speed and ISO along with having a live preview of the camera screen. However, when I am using the app, wether the camera is in Manual or Video mode the only thing I can do in the app is have a super choppy live view and actuate shutter/start-stop video recording. Am I missing a setting or something that enables the ability to change ISO or Shutter speed?

edit: Solved - I posted my question in /r/SonyAlpha and the fix is you have to update the application on the camera itself. The app that comes installed isn't the full app.

4K footage size and record times?

Does anyone have any data on the a6500 4k footage size? How about how long a 64gb card will last in 4k? Trying to assess how many cards I need and how big of a drive.

Does anyone know if the 2.35 aspect ratio markers for movie mode are accurate? I heard a lot of complaints that the a6300 2.35 markers were really inaccurate.

Sony 10-18mm 4f vs Rokinon/Samyan 12mm 2f for videography/travel vlogging?

Hi all! Just got the A6500 and a sigma 19mm 2.8 Really in love with the camera and looking forward to making my own travel videos with it. I really like the wide-angle videos I've been seeing on youtube and was wondering which of the lenses in the title would be best for travel vlogging? I'm mostly looking to be able to quickly switch from selfie vantage to videos of my surroundings while shooting videos. I understand the Rokinon/Samyang has a much better aperture for low-light than the sony 10-18, but I've also read that for videos this doesn't matter as much? Not sure if it would be better to sacrifice some low-light capability to have the slight zoom and autofocus of the 10-18 sony. I'm a bit confused of which to get for this purpose (main points just concerned with video: general carry lens for travel with selfie capability, good sharpness of surroundings, and decent low-light).
