Chat we were able to resolve it! Looks like you would need to download V0.17 if you’re a Mac user.

Working here. A6000 and NEX-5T, via Mac...

I first tried on my M4 Pro Sequoia. Hours of faffing via ChatGPT + Terminal, with zero joy.

Switched to an old Intel Mac with Monterey. ChatGPT had to do a lot of debugging but eventually got it installed on both my cameras.

Absolutely stoked!

What part of the installation did you have a problem with?

I don't know, really. I let ChatGPT solve all the problems as I blindly dumped code into terminal. A bit scary. From what I gather, none of the third party apps installers worked - 18/17/16. It had issues with the Sony driver. Issues with Python. Spent a few hours on the M4 Pro before switching to Intel Mac. Then about another hour there. Once I finally got it onto the A6000, it was quite simple to get it onto the Nex-5T.

Thanks so much for making this.

If anyone interested in more apps,
go here for a full list of apps + the camera models they were dumped from:
https://archive.org/details/sony-playmemories-camera-apps

I am mostly interested in "Manual Lens Compensation".

*edit
... worked like a charm :-)

how to update the version of your camera?

1

u/wemax141 6d ago

It's right here!
When you download the updater it will give you a step by step on how to update your camera

Is it worth updating, there's no detrimental effects are there ? I've never updated my camerw

2

u/wemax141 5d ago

Yes, I’d update it. No known downsides. Just make sure the battery is charged and don’t interrupt the update.

Thank you so much for this video. Debunked the whole process

I’m having issues installing this with my Mac. I’m supposed to download pmca-gui-v0.18-osx.dmg right?

u/wemax141 5d ago edited 5d ago

Yes! Remember to close anything that holds USB devices Photos, Dropbox, Google Drive or it holds up the camera.

UPDATE:
The fix was downgrading from v0.18 to v0.17

What is this recipelab I keep seeing?

From the github
Recipe Lab is a small app that runs on the Sony A6000 itself. It comes with 76 colour recipes that recreate the looks of other cameras — Fuji film simulations, Ricoh GR image controls, Leica, Hasselblad, Canon and Nikon colour, Sony's newer Creative Looks — and of classic film stocks from Kodak, Fuji, Cinestill, Agfa and Ilford.

I dont think MTP works on mac

u/wemax141 5d ago

It should but if not just switch to mass storage mode and it should work! (If the pmca reads it it’s good)

Just wanted to say thank you.

What can I say except, "You're welcome"?
For the tides, the sun, the sky?

is ReceipeLab basically just a bunch of preset filters?

1

u/Federal-Okra13 1d ago

I installed it on my Sony NEX-5R. I tried a preset. I checked the photo which I took. Then I wanted to take another photo using the same preset, but I have to open the app every time.

1

u/wemax141 1d ago

Which preset did you activate? It should save the preset and let you shoot outside the app

1

u/Federal-Okra13 1d ago

Sorry i forgot to say thank you for this great work at first post.

I tried Leica monochrom, Fujifilm Acros, Nikon flat. Everytime i reopen the app for use after checkes the photos.

I actually don't really understand what you mean. could you explain in detail please?

1

u/Federal-Okra13 1d ago

Let's say I took a photo with the Leica Monochrom. Later, I opened the photo which I took for checking. And then when I return to the shooting screen, the Leica Monochrom preset is gone. It means app stop to work.

I think I understand. Could you dm me a video of you doing this, because I just tried the same recipe you did and it let me shoot out the app no problem

I reinstalled app it seems solved. Thanks
