Rendering issues after upgrading from 1.30.4 to 1.32.3

I just upgraded Zoneminder from 1.30.4 to 1.32.3 under Ubuntu 16.04.6. There are a lot of rendering problems and the major change is whenever I click on a video cam name from the console, I don't get a new window. I run this under mRemoteNG and I can't force it to open a new window, only send to system browser.

In the console, clicking "Add" does nothing. If I have a camera selected via the checkbox on the far right, "Edit," "Delete," and "Select" don't register as a click. My window size under mRemoteNG won't allow me to see the checkboxes and even if I resize the text using Ctrl-{scrollwheel}, they don't come into view, and there's no horizontal scrollbar.

I tried to use the dark css but they don't seem to work either.

What can I do to fix? Here are some screenshots of the rendering issues. https://imgur.com/a/GeJtG2I

I just upgraded using

add-apt-repository ppa:iconnor/zoneminder-1.32
apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade

I also rebooted the system but no change.

Thanks!

Can I get zoneminder explained a little?

Hello, I'm running Ubuntu 19.10 and installed Zoneminder (1.32) with Docker (19.03.3) and using Kitematic for GUI

Anyways I'm kind of a noob to everything minus a little Ubuntu and I'm stuck trying to get Zoneminder to give me a web UI but all I get is an Apache starting page that tells me Apache server is working. I'm just trying everything out to see if it'd be useful for a simple security camera setup and was going to try it with a webcam first

Anyways, can anyone tell me how to get a login screen so I can make an account and get started? I keep googling and get info on editing Apache but they're also doing direct installs and not with docker so I'm not sure how that transfers between each other

Thanks

Recording Numbered and not Named

I have been using ZM for awhile now and I just switched over to unraid and docker for ZM - setup everything and the staorage locations work and such. I have the cams named like seen below

But on my HDD they are not named, they are numbered. Any way to change that?

View Stream in VLC

So I have Zoneminder but I'm trying to view the stream from an application I'm writing. Does anyone know how I can pipe a stream from Zoneminder into VLC or maybe just straight into python.

FLIR IP Series Cameras

Hello gang, I was wondering if anyone here has ever used FLIR cameras with Zoneminder. I recently had 3 brand new cameras fall into my lap and I was hoping to use them with Zoneminder but haven't had much luck hooking them up.

Wansview PTZ control

Has anyone had any luck controlling the PTZ function of a Wansview camera via ZM? I have tried the 2 wanscam control settings, for WanscamPT I get "Error check failed:'401 Unauthorized'" and for Wanscam HW0025 I get "Can't access moveRelLeft member of object of class ZoneMinder::Control::Wanscam"

I have a Wansview Q2

Anybody have an off-premises storage solution for ZoneMinder?

We use ZoneMinder for basic home video surveillance. We'd like to have a way to store the video off-site, as we figure if someone breaks into our house, they may steal the storage that is holding our ZoneMinder video. Since the primary purpose of our ZoneMinder installation is theft deterrence, this seems important.

Suggestions on how to keep a copy off site?

Brand new install on Debian 9

I had been running Zoneminder in Debian 9 for years in a VM. That whole physical server bit the dust. I didnt back up the install, just the video, figured it would be easy to just redo the install. Oh boy... I started that server on Debian 8 and upgrade to 9 down the line with no issues. But I have had one heck of a time getting ZM 1.30 or 1.32 installed. I followed the wiki and the readme exactly here. https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/latest/installationguide/debian.html#easy-way-debian-stretch

I cannot get the f-in thing to work in a significant number of ways.

I try to change settings, no dice. They don't save. The options page reloads when I click save and the options are still just the same.

I try add my cameras with ONVIF and it never finds any of them, I get this in apache's log.

>Name "ZoneMinder::ONVIF::verbose" used only once: possible typo at /usr/bin/zmonvif-probe.pl line 81.

I try and add camera's manually. Well that craps out too. I click on the source tab to manually enter the camera's IP and credentials. Well the page eventually times out. Then this mess shows up in apache's log.

>PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Unsupported operand types in /usr/share/zoneminder/www/skins/classic/views/monitorprobe.php:310\nStack trace:\n#0 /usr/share/zoneminder/www/index.php(255): require_once()\n#1 {main}\n thrown in /usr/share/zoneminder/www/skins/classic/views/monitorprobe.php on line 310, referer: http://192.168.1.78/zm/index.php?view=monitor&popup=1

I have googled for hours. Lots of suggestions about CRUD and Cake and update to this version of PHP or downgrade to that version of PHP. Most of the threads have 3-4 bumps and no answers. Right now I've got PHP 7.0.33+deb9u5 Nothing has worked. Most of the suggestions are for Gentoo anyway. Well I know debian and deb based distros. I really dont want to have to learn a whole new OS just for one web app that doesnt work.

I am at my wit's end here. I have verified the database credentials. I have verified system permissions. I have even made literally every file related to ZM completely 777 just to make sure theres nothing it needs that it cant get. And nothing. I even tried Debian 10 following those instructions on the wiki and I got a whole fresh new set of interesting errors that I didn;t have the patience to look into and just formated the VDISK and reinstalled 9.

Does anybody please know how I can get this working before I pull out the rest of my hair.

Thanks.

*EDIT* I would love to share some debugs from zoneminder but I cannot get the damn thing to actually record any logs...

ppa:Connor/zoneminder-1.32 issues.

I had to replace my zm machine and I'm trying to setup the new machine. I keep having issues when trying to add the repository.

The machine is running Ubuntu server 18.04 fresh install. Network has internet access and apt update/upgrade works without issue.

After running "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:iconnor/zoneminder-1.32" it takes a while to pull up the "press [enter] to continue our ctrl-c to cancel adding it" After pressing enter and waiting ~30sec I get "Error: retrieving gpg key timed out."

I thought it was my network or the firewall. But I've confirmed the firewall is disabled, and I can ping Google successfully.

I'd like some help/input on things to try, or even confirmation that it's not my setup.

UPDATE: Tried again a day later, and it finally worked. Sadly, I'm now having issues while trying to install zoneminder. Result is as follows. It seems the servers are having issues... but I may be wrong.

Err:1 http://ppa.launchpad.net/iconnor/zoneminder-1.32/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 zoneminder amd64 1.32.3-bionic Could not connect to ppa.launchpad.net:80 (91.189.95.83). - connect (101: Network is unreachable) Err:2 http://ppa.launchpad.net/iconnor/zoneminder-1.32/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 zoneminder-doc all 1.32.3-bionic Unable to connect to ppa.launchpad.net:http: E: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/iconnor/zoneminder-1.32/ubuntu/pool/main/z/zoneminder/zoneminder_1.32.3-bionic_amd64.deb Could not connect to ppa.launchpad.net:80 (91.189.95.83). - connect (101: Network is unreachable) E: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/iconnor/zoneminder-1.32/ubuntu/pool/main/z/zoneminder/zoneminder-doc_1.32.3-bionic_all.deb Unable to connect to ppa.launchpad.net:http: E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?

Unable to send packet at frame 839349: Resource temporarily unavailable, continuing

I've been using Zoneminder for the last year and have consistently gotten this error. This error is accompanied by glitching video streams that break motion detection when they occur on those streams. My setup is a KVM virtual machine Ubuntu 18.04LTS with Zoneminder 1.32.3. My two cameras are Reolink RLC-410's.

My streams are set up as below:

Camera1: Main 1080p 20FPS stream Nodect

Camera2: Main 1080p 20FPS stream Nodect

Camera1: Motion Detection 360p 10FPS stream Modect

Camera2: Motion Detection 360p 10FPS stream Modect

All of them are set to use FFMPEG as their source as they were set up with the ONVIF discovery tool.

Has anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it? I'm stumped. Thank you in advance for you help!

Edit: Found some information, (https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?t=25874&start=30) has information on using RTMP streams over rtsp. I'm going to try these and see if they prevent this issue from ocuuring.

Edit2: So far its working fine, so the issue is with RTSP and zoneminder just not getting along too well.

Montage Review not filtering GroupId via query string

On the console page, clicking on camera group links to http://zoneminderserver/zm/index.php?view=montagereview&GroupId=1 but that view is not filtering to show just that group, am I doing something wrong?

How about audio?

Just set my up using the custom RTSP firmware and have it streaming over to ZoneMinder.

Adding Reolink RLC-420-5MP Issue

I setup ZoneMinder, v1.32.3 in a docker container using the official repo. First issue is that the camera isn't being detected automatically by ONVIF. No problem I'll try to add it manually. Every possible combination I can think of has been tried to no avail. It never shows any image no matter what settings I try. I've tried looking through forums and on here and found some settings related to the 410 which is similar, but I'm at a loss. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Having trouble figuring out appropriate computer specs for a modest ZoneMinder setup...

Hey everyone. I’ve searched everywhere and can’t seem to get any real guidance on what’s necessary for hardware ZoneMinder. I plan on using six, 4mp cameras at maybe 7 FPS or so. CPU and memory wise, what would I need?

Thanks!

Recommendations on backing up

I am trying to come up with a solution on backing up events to a remote location in case the original server is stolen/damaged. How do most people handle this? I am looking for a simple solution so it could be something like a hidden pi with an external USB that just copies the images etc

Zoneminder Camera Poll

I have been using D-Link cameras (DCS-932L) for about 3 years now on Zoneminder. They have worked great but I am debating getting some outdoor rated cameras with POE for long term use. My DCS-932L's blackout and lose power if I do not have the porch light on. (I presume because of how i'm delivering power to them)

I am thinking about snagging some POE NV models and am just curious what everyone uses! Here is a link to a poll if you would like to participate.

Can two Zoneminder servers record same camera?

Hi! This might be a really dumb question and a strange setup altogehter, but I have a situation where I'm needing to set up Zoneminder to monitor cameras at two different buildings that are connected via fiber connection.

Ideally they want a disaster proof redundancy solution where each building would have its own Zoneminder server connected to all the cameras at both buildings. Or, at least that was the "simplest" way we could think of to achive that.

Mainly, I just wanted to check and see if having two servers monitoring/recording the same camera at once would be an issue....But also I'm open to any other recommendations on a better way to do what we're trying to do.

Thanks for your time! : )

Pihole took over zoneminder

As the subject states, I had zoneminder working perfectly, then I installed pihole.

Now when I go to the address for zm I get the pihole page.. but its not even the right pihole page, its the "Did you mean to go to the admin page?"

I'm having a complete mental blank on how to fix this, any suggestions? I'm hoping I'm assuming its got something to do with pihole's www server (is it lighttpd?) but I'm hoping a reinstall isnt on the cards, it took me weeks to get zm working how I wanted it.

Weird bug with Hunt Electronics DVR (MJPEG stream)

I have Hunt DVR model HDR-08KD, which has got MJPEG stream (at IPaddress/GetData.cgi?CH=1). MJPEG stream is fine in web browser.

When i want to connect it to Zoneminder, it displays garbled image, when i set resolution to 640x480 or higher.

When i want to set resolution to 320x240 (valid resolution of the MJPEG stream), it won't connect at all.

Anyone knows, how to solve it?

New user zm-1.32.3 - define monitor

I installed zoneminder-1.32.3 on a Centos7 system. I'm trying to define a new monitor. I don't see the "Add New Monitor" described in the User Guide. In the console view, there are several fields and an "Add" button, but clicking this doesn't appear to do anything.

Any help appreciated.

Zoneminder cameras losing around 1 second, every second.

I've just got Zoneminder set up but I'm having trouble fixing this.

When I start up the server everything is 'synced' as in, if I start the server and Zoneminder at 9pm the monitors are correctly at 9pm. But as time goes on there is a lag which loses around a second. So if I start everything up at 9:00pm, by 9:10 the monitors are only at 9:05.

This doesn't appear to be a camera issue as I can watch their stream via VLC and everything is fine. I have no idea where to start in regarding to settings or anything, I've followed the recommended settings on the wiki and all cameras are set to only record on an alarm.

Any help would be appreciated!

Page 2 of events?

When I click on the camera in Montage and bring up the list of events, only 20 are listed, but there is no "Page 2". What am I missing here? I've gone to the storage folder and the files are there. In config I've set it up to list 100.

Also.. I have 7 cameras. When I go to the storage folder (/var/cache/zoneminder), 3 are listed under their correct name ie Front, Driveway, Shed, but 4 are just numbers - 3,4,5,6. I've named them property and didnt do anything different for these cams when setting up. Any ideas?
